Lately it's Alienware everywhere. Well guess what, today is no exception. The high-end computer manufacturer today relaunched its acclaimed Area-51 ALX desktop. Now the Area-51 ALX is the industry first and only desktop to offer the 3.2GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 overclocked to 4.0GHz. Systems that ship with the overclocked quad processor will come with custom watercooling as stadard."The performance packed into the Area-51 ALX desktop is flat-out unheard-of," says Marc Diana, Product Marketing Manager for Alienware. "Alienware has always been committed to building only the fastest, most powerful systems available, and that's exactly what we've done with the new ALX."
"By enabling the Area-51 ALX to operate at blazing speed with a great mix of performance and energy efficiency, the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 is the heart of a system sure to excite any Alienware user," said CJ Bruno, VP, GM Americas Sales & Marketing. For more information, visit Alienware.

The best thing about Alienware is the fact that you can point your finger at anyone that owns one and laugh at them for being ripped off.

I applaud Alienware for their overpriced poor quality computers. They are making a killin.

For $6k i would expect the thing to be running on LN2 with some punk having sat there and hand lapped my cpu over a period of 6 months, while your at it, do the same to all my parts.

I went to their website and thought ill check out the real price difference and its pretty far fetched. Besides, the last thing i would want is some stranger building my $9500u.s rig ( HAHA according to Alienware my pc is worth almost $10k ) ( minus their case, poor liquid cooling and crappy lights ).

I tell everyone i meet, ' build your own pc's, its like lego. Theres colours and shit cant physically fit in certain slots. Sure you will fry a few components in the process, but for $10k you could go thru 3 pc's and learn something!

Ill rather one of them ' one laptop per childs '

Damn good comment dude!
We have to get this on the front page or something, it's pure genius! :toast:

Let me say something on topic while I lmao, so not to anger the mods :p

I like Alienware's cases, they are cool. I don't like their prices, they are not cool!

There, I said it, now I'll go back to LOL-ing!

You guys have to remember though, these computers are not meant for people like us. These are for your rich bmw driving business execs that couldn't care less about computers and just want the best. Remember we're a minority, and alienware is catering to a different minority.

Good point...I sometimes forget that not everyone is into "hardware" like me, you, or most of the members of this forum...I think the "minority' you refer to is alot more "vast"...A few people that I actually have "physical" contact with (just everyday relations not sexual) they fit the "Alienware" buyer profile to a T...more enterested in WoW or whats happening in their myspace accounts than the hardware specs of the insides of their rigs let alone actually building one from scratch. LOL

I love their Build vs Buy argument http://www.alienware.com/build_vs_buy_pages/index.aspx
alienwares 4 steps vs building your own 19 steps.
their reasoning is just ridiculous.

First of all they repeat the same fuking thing twice. TROUBLEHSOOT ISSUES THAT ARRIVE... really? You have to put that in twice? One should be fine, and second, the last 4 things you would have to do on alienware anyways. run benchmarks? really? thats not a burden, thats the JOY. Oh wait, they probably LOCKED bios so you CANT OC and don't have to worry about benchmarks /sigh

I never had a problem with people buying that, because frankly anybody who can afford those, has plenty of money to go around so it doesn't matter if they overpaid, but that buy vs build comparison is just flat out ridiculous.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Every time I see Alienware posted in news, it makes me wonder... Why is this news? Is there anyone on TPU who would actually be interested in one of their disgustingly overpriced machines, or is it just for the comedy?

My money is on comedy.

their reasoning is just ridiculous.

wow this is purely for the nubs with overloaded parents/nubs who have too much money buy a super comp but knows nothing about it/nubs who can show off their comp to friends but knows practically nothing bout them.....

i see their reasoning and at the end.. wow this is stupid... "IF UR LUCKY ENUFF TO GET A WARRANTY:respect::respect: i bet alienware has no idea that most if not all hardware comes with warranty and it depends on wat kinda RMA they supply... like asus... good stuff but when comes to rma.. omg.. :banghead::banghead:

and they even put dlding and installing drivers/application as different steps...:cry:

^^^^now thats a first impression how old are you 14?

22 now...but it doesnt matter cos i believe normally older ppl are wiser with their money and that could possibly attract only teenager or those who earn too much to care for their comp.. cos i had a few friends who have hi end system which they dun know how to fix/maintain.. dust everywhere...

besides for US$5grand ur buying something thats only worth 3grand or less.. and 2 grand goes to marketing and brand.. for wat u know u could get something more in it and a nice cooling system with it.. only a "not so nice case(depending on individual)" to use with .. but that also not such a good point cos most of these providers(acer/alienware/dell) minimise the possibilities of upgrading ur system as their cases are mostly customised to suit ranges of their products. therefore a diy system is still the way to go ..

srry for being on the naive side of thinking cos i cant find any meaning to buy such a system at that price jst for the so call "service" they providing...
