I think its a smart bundle for users looking to upgrade a slightly older XP(meaning PCI-E/Dual Core) and making a jump to Vista. I think its very smart marketing if the price is right

4Gb ram seems to be a minimum requirement for Vista.
Being only a 9600GT i already expect poor frame rates in 95% of the available games ( poor frame rate to me is anything under 100 ), so its safe to assume that DX10 stuff will be unbareable.

Great package thou, and very wise to bundle gfx cards with ram seeing as sometimes there are incompatibility issues with vendors. I remember MSI did something simular a while ago, but i dont recall if it was with their gfx cards or their motherboards.

dont underestimate a 9600gt, mine comes very near to the same performance as my 8800gt.

also is it me or does the ram look suspiciously like axeram 1200's?

how is anything under 100FPS a poor framerate your eyes cant tell above 60FPS? so hmm doesn't sound like an issue to me

I had an 8800GT and wasnt happy with its performance.

Im one of those people that gets the taste for something better and simply cant revert to something i once had. IM GREEDY!

cdawall, i have several systems here at home, many more at work and have no trouble at all telling the difference in framerate. Personally 60 frames a second reminds me of TV.
They actually say the average human see's between 30 to 50 frames a second with the naked eye ( Dont quote me, i have no idea where i heard that from ). But they also say that with practice and lots of effort under the right conditions and circumstances, one is able to achieve vision beyond the 500 frames a second ( Dont quote me on that either, but i think i saw that in an airforce training documentry ).

Either way, i dont think im limited to 30frames a second because it looks choppy to me. Then again, 60 frames looks twice as good and half as choppy, still choppy thou. 100 frames would be my limit.

I suppose im being too hard, after all, its not a gaming pc, its a more like a console.
Consoles games look choppy.

wrong, thats not really how the human eye works.

when i drops below a certen level you will notice the stutter, but it depends on game type, fast moving action like shooters below a certer fps level people "jump" frame to frame.

read that, it explains it very well, there was a better one but it was murged with the one i linked.

oh forgot, screw walton chaintech, b4 walton bought chaintech out it was a good company, treated people right and listened to user imput, after word they lied to us customers as well as staff, then they fired them, it was a big load of crap that drove alot of us ex-chaintech motherboard enthusists to avoid the company all togather, a company that treats people the way they do should NOT GET ANY BUISNESS AT ALL.

oh and chaintech has used the apogee name for years, check back in the socket7/socketA days they had apogee boards way back then.
