Will AMD Rain on NVIDIA's 9800GTX+ Party?

believe what you want dude, the 4850 came out and surprised alot of people, it was a panic attack Nvidia had so they dropped the price of their 9800GTX now they are trying to hold the crown by releasing a + card which is just a overclocked board, which is basically a midrange board now

how in the hell is the 9800gtx a midrange card ? maybe to you it might be but its still a high end card imo, a mid range card is a 8800gs/9600gso/hd 3850 and i f**king hate the prices we have to pay over here, were still being charged $360 for a damn 9800gtx, wtf is with that :banghead:

it's midrange becaues it falls below the gtx260 (mid high) and gtx280 (highend)

well thats nvidia for you, inflating prices, instead of complaining here, why dont you complain to nvidia if your so faithful to them. It certainly appears you are.

oh jesus christ i was wondering how long it would take for someone to bring fanboyism into it.

read my posts you idiot, im not faithful to nvidia at all, infact ive stated several times my next card will be a hd 4850 :slap:

this is a forum where people express their opinions, which is what i was doing, in fact my previous post even stated "IMO" (IN MY OPINION) and was every bit relevant to the thread and the post i quoted from.

settle down ladie's, no need to get yer pantie's in a bunch.......

FWIW, the GTX+ has a smaller die as well. 65>55nm while increasing the core and shaders but lowering the memory by 100MHz. (which is easily overclockable)

The 9800GTX is not a high end card anymore, its more like in between mid to high with the GTX280 and the HD4870 being high end cards

Guess that means I gotta get rid of my non-highend 2900XT now...

well if Nvidia has two the 9800GX2 55nm can always arrive lol and at 250-270 US

If the bios is preventing the 4850 from overclocking,I smell some more bios`s to download and flash soon...

i dont trust the chineese to begin with, so ill wait for wizzard before passing judgement

Yes, it is.. I had one, actually 2

i didn't think so

there will be no price war until amd can compete with nvidia on a single gpu setup not 2x4870 vs gtx280, if the 4870 had been able to compete with the gtx280 then we would have a price war on our hadns. the fact it takes 2 of them to come close to it, means nvidia can still charge their ridiculous prices as they have the fastest/most pwerful gpu
Nah. I think most people are just concerned with the amount of performance for their money. If they see that 2 4850's beat a 280, all for a lower price, I'm sure many will go that way. Heck, you can get 2x4850 AND a Xfire board to go with it, all for less than the cost of a 280. I think the prices will drop on the 280 cards very soon.

This is a bit interesting to me too. I am trying to line up hardware for my SFF comp and it seems like it is getting harder to find good SLI mobos..There are TONS of Crossfire ones though.

with the way nVidia doesn't like to fork out SLI liscensing to Intel (or anyone else for that matter), we'll continue to see Crossfire boards being more dominant.

But with the way this new gen competition is kicking up, nVidia might just have to start sharing if they want to keep some kind of edge.

The way it's looking right now, ATI seemed to be ready to pwn some green this generation, and it's a nice, fresh change of pace. We haven't seen competition this intense since the 1900/7900 days.

i think that is a totally wrong way to be thinking.

i think AMD has got something up their sleeve's ;)

Lately lots of things happen only in ATI side. That is why I told like that. Nothing innovative happens in the CPU side. If that happens then I would think AMD is serious about their CPUs too.

Hopefully they have something coming out soon to see the grin back on AMD fans face like we have now about the 48 series Video cards.

I think this is only round one of this summer's battle, a round ati/amd seems to be clearly winning at this point. Of all the announced cards so far, it looks as though ati/amd is outdoing nvidia with price and performance competition, by quite a decent amount. Don't count nvidia out yet though. We know they like to release a mess of cards all over the place, and my guess is their already working on a die revision for these. The 260 will likely become completely obsolete and move out of the market very quickly unless nvidia is able to drop it's price to around $300, so they may just release another card that costs less in it's stead. The 9800gtx+ isn't gonna cut it v.s. the 4850, but a gt or gts might. It could be a long summer for both companies, hopefully when it starts cooling down again there'll be low prices for all. :toast:

-1 on that racist comment :shadedshu

Curious to see the sales report at the end of the year. Hope ATi takes no more no less than 45% of the marked.

Attack dirty with dirty :p Thats what AMD is doing.

why the amd and nvidia keep secrets, amd use ddr5 , nvidia use 65 gpu , nivdia go with agiea, amd go with havook , and .......... , what is next, only users lose them money

I want you off this forum now.

because i don't trust them, they get prerelease hardware, sub par drivers and i hardly see anything come from there reviews to reflect the actual product. Its not aimed at the race, its aimed at the nation and the testers there, i trust fud more than the testers over there.

ATI surly stepped up there game thats for sure. Go DAAMIT
