I don't remember I tried keywords in the search script but couldn't find it, im pretty sure it was in a official "9800GTX" news bit so it shouldn't of been deleted.

It's important to note that packing more transistors into the same unit of space increases the power density of the chip, because there are more electronic circuits working away and consuming power in the same amount of space. However, shrinking the die size is more than enough to compensate for the increase in power density's effect on the over all power dissipation of the chip.

his argument was nvidia shrunk the G92-440 from 65nm to 55nm and thats it (due to time constraints) and according to the graph above it consumes more power than a 9800GTX which he was right at the time but the toms article and my my logic say otherwise.

not sure what the transistor count is on the GTX+ compared to the GTX. if they didn't add any transistors and it's the same clocks why is it faster? I know nvidia has been working on the 55nm process for a while because they released the 9800GT which is the first desktop 55nm GPU on nVidia's side and the 9800GTX+ was probably some counter move made by the release of the 48xx series what a month ago?

the clocks are up from a 65nm GTX, it accounts for the small increase in speed.

however the original 9800GTX was an excellent overclocker, i have high hopes for the 55nm model

smaller die = less power which potentially means less core voltage which means the more we get to play with.
