People flip out when their video card cost 500 instead of 199, but when they sell a CPU at 1000.00USD no one says anything.
Video cards get better faster, CPUs don't seem to need replacing *as much*. How much better does a Q9600 perform over a Q6600? Not a heck of a lot, I'd say. Now look at the difference between the x1950xtx and the 4870. Similar time span, large difference in improvement. Would you rather pay 1000 dollars and keep the CPU for 3 years or pay 400-500 every 6 months for *a* new card? =P
