I really think a lot of folks who are dishing out Arrandale/Clarkdale reviews today are missing a very key point which is getting drowned out by either the high price of the CPU's or are looking at it from an enthusiast viewpoint.
For the first time in, sheesh I can't even remember how long if ever, Intel has managed to produce a GPU that comes close to matching a dedicated IGP from either AMD/ATI or NVIDIA. This is something that nobody, including myself, ever expected to see happen where they finally took the IGP they produced seriously.
The things that I'm really hoping Intel does this time around is to continue this focus and to improve the following:
a. Provide an area on their website, that is updated regularly, that provides a list of games that their IGP will work with, both on the desktop and notebook platforms, and ones that do not.
b. Provide driver updates for gaming titles that have issues, or to improve performance with currently working games, on a more regular basis.
c. Work closely with Blizzard to ensure that their games, such as World of Warcraft, are playable at 1024x768 sustaining a performance of no less than 25 FPS even in the most intensive areas of gameplay.
I for one would like to be able to get a notebook where I did not have to worry about if it has an AMD/ATI or NVIDIA IGP in it for a change. I just really hope that they do not drop the ball on this or it will be a huge disappointment considering the potential that can be tapped here.
