Is it just me or are all the best PSUs nowadays powered by Seasonic internals? Seems like no other OEM can compete in terms of quality.

Antec's top PSU, HCP-1200, also uses an 80mm fan and costs 300$. If the fan makes its job properly and without much noise then size is not a problem. Also the internal design of the PSU dictates what size fan will be used.

In regards to the fan issue, did you test the noise levels at all? I would hope that "Silencer" is not just a name.

with the noise that my loader makes I cannot conduct acoustics tests. However currently I am in the assembly phase of my new setup that will make much less noise and hopefully will allow me to utilize my sound level meter and conduct decent sound measurements.

The PSU is called silencer because it does not output the same noise levels with PC P&C Turbo-cool PSUs. It isn't so silent.

A lot of other OEMs can compete, but it seems Seasonic is the OEM of choice for a lot of brands now. But to name some examples, Delta, Super Flower and Flextronics are easily just as good.

And according to [H] super flower built the most efficient PSU of all time and it's great overall.

Yes, Super Flowers Platinum units are about the best available at the moment. Seasonic has high wattage 80 Plus Platinum units coming up soon though, will be interesting to see what they perform like. I bet we won't be disappointed.

I saw a interview with the PSU representative of ANTEC , he was telling that the PSU efficiency of course is important but you can get a PSU with high efficiency and simultaneously with bad ripple performance, awful transient, and mediocre voltage regulation, therefore the efficiency of a PSU dont represent necessariry the most imortant and the only PSU feature to keep in mind when looking for a PSU

thats true. Sometimes the manufacturers decide to sacrifice tight voltage regulation for higher efficiency.

My Silencer 750w i have never heard it unless my ear was sitting right next to it and tell you the truth i like more noise over silence at least it's being cooled better.

And if this is any thing like the one i have been using for years now i would buy it in a blink. Al though mine has 6 pin and 2x6+2 pin.

Will have to keep my eye on this one
