NZXT, a company built on realizing the dreams of gamers worldwide, is proud to announce Avatar S, the latest addition to their award-winning line of gaming mice. Avatar S empowers PC Gamers and enthusiasts with simple, precise gaming control, and an array of intuitive, innovative features. Similar to the original Avatar, Avatar S is sleek and stealthy in design boasting an ambidextrous, low profile, light form factor crafted with Teflon feet ideal for making quick powerful movements on any surface.

Avatar S enables complete personalization with a DPI switch that adjusts 1600/800/400DPI in-game without the hassle of downloading different drivers. Gamers can also custom configure in-game macros, 5 media keys, X-Y sensitivity, and LED lighting and then save the personalized settings onto the onboard 16Kb memory making it an ideal solution for on-the-go gaming.

"We designed Avatar S as an intuitive solution that gives gamers maximum personalization with minimum hassle" said Johnny Hou, Founder and Chief Designer at NZXT. "Your profile settings can be easily configured and then saved onto the onboard memory in case you game on multiple rigs. When gearing up at a LAN party, the last thing gamers should have to worry about is whether or not their mouse is configured correctly. Avatar S eliminates that headache."

Looks slick, but DPI options are pretty sad. Nice that it has onboard memory though.

it is practical....cuz when your cruzin' at 5600DPi with your bro's in the hood in BC2 and then you suddenly snort some pixy dust and it doesnt go down too well and then it makes you sneeze, and when you sneeze it makes your dude in the game point at the sky and thats so funny.

LMAO, make me feel that i have drank to much coffee just one twitchy mofo.

Nice to see another mouse for a lefty but it's a shame it lacks buttons. And depending on what i am playing i like any thing from 800-32000dpi according to the XAI mouse i have.

Had the original avatar but the left button wore out in about 4-5 months which was a huge dissapointment.

I just realised....

Avatar S enables complete personalization with a DPI switch that adjusts 1600/800/400DPI

Bit of an Oxymoron.

I also have 'complete personalisation with a DPI switch' but the only difference is "I" get to set my DPI at what i want anywhere between 300-5700DPI. its not full personalisation if you lock the most important thing about the mouse down so players cant change it to their own preferd DPI. what a bum move

Oh, well damn, im on 450dpi with a 1680x1050 res, no issues here, 6/11 win sens ofcourse.
1600dpi is imo overkill for anything below 2560x1600

It's very practical. I can't imagine not playing on 5000dpi. I'm so used to it than anything lower would make the game feel dead slow for me.

first ive heard resolution effecting dpi, can you explain that a bit more?

If you have LCD with high resolution like 1920x1080 or 1920x1200, and have a mouse with dpi-shift, try select 2500dpi for a while, and then switch back to 400/800 dpi, and then see what happens ;)

that's the reason I scrapped my old 800dpi mouse.

It looks pretty sweet. There's no way i can use 1600dpi. I'm usin a cm storm maxed at 5600dpi all the time. anything else is to slow for me.

cant stand high sensitivity mice i need 1600-2200dpi for optimum gaming go to high and its far to twitchy cant get a good grove in BC2 or other shooters to low and your to slow, 1600-2200 seems to work for me DPI is a bit of a preference thing some ppl like playing there game on crack so high dpi and there awesome ability to slow down time makes 5000+ usable  for me it just screw up my game.

to each there own gaming mice are like toppings on a pizza everyone likes something different lol

Thats very interesting mouse.. and laser sensor, I guessed infrared considering that DPi. Maybe its just to make it cheaper, but in case its not it could be very very interesting mouse..

I think not much ppl know why, well here is why. Our "over-DPied" mices have few faults, most of them has some sort of acceleration (positive or negative), some of them have Z-tracking or other problems (like random DPi switch, my favorite :D). But biggest is, that cause sensor in them has bit insane density, they need HW corrections to even work properly.. so if you take low-DPi sensor, it can probably work without those HW corrections, and if made right it can be much more accurate then any high DPi sensor.

But thats just theory..

Otherwise, 1600 DPi isnt problem to use. Though I have G9x ofc. :D

I actually play universally at like 1375 :p I use to need the 5600 DPI setting to turn tanks fast in BC2, but then I started using the config tool to turn up their speed independantly, now I have no use for my DPI button :(

I prefer lower DPI's but it really depends on what games you play. 400 DPI is my preference for quakelive. Thinks its absurd, well... my 35%+ LG doesn't agree. :)

That didn't really answer my question.

I find that different dpi are good for the various ways that people handle a mouse: claw grip, palm grip or finger grip. Just depends on how you actually move it too, like if you move it far across the desk or just a little.

For me i just move it only a little and i claw grip with my fingers so i like a semi high sensitivity because of the style i use. That also effects which mouse i use.

I hate people who skide their mouse across the desk like an idiot because they use a palm grip. Nothing wrong with a palm grip you just need a decent sensitivity and learn to control it so your not moving it as far. I think they move it across the desk because they normally use cheap OEM mice like dell or something.
