Funny, I have had an ocz 60gb Vertex 1 and Vertex 2 ssd's. Both are still rocking my shit without a problem.. plus ocz build some great hardware...

Well that's good for you. with the first Vertex it took OCZ 3 firmwares to make it work like it should've. But then again it took them a long time to implement TRIM.

I had two Vertex' in RAID0 and the performance degradation was crazy because of their terrible ''garbage collector'' feature.

Like I said before : OCZ never again.

OCZ does fine

I've had a trio of OCZ Vertex 1's running in RAID 0 for almost three years now. I once had an issue flashing a firmware update, which bricked one of the three, and they RMA'd it with minimal hassle.

A single user's experience isn't exactly hard data on drive reliability, but for what it's worth, I've had a very good experience with their products and can't wait to get some SATA 6Gb drives as an upgrade someday.

They sell millions of drives so thousands failing is well within acceptable failure rates, just because you have had issues as have others here it means nothing, again I am a happy owner of a vertex 2 SSD drive and have had absolutely 0 issues with it for the 6 months I have owned it and it still delivers the exact same performance as it did on day1, just as an FYI for your "hard data" why don't you go on over to the Intel/Crucial SSD support forums and see for yourself there are also thousands of complaints, support issues and failures, your link proves nothing.

There's nothing to prove. That this generation of Sandforce drives has stability issues to still be solved is a matter of fact, I know many people who moved in desperation from OCZ drives to other devices (like the M4) because of these problems. OCZ also doesn't know where the problem derives from . The OCZ tech support made them do hours of testing in which they tried changing firmware versions, secure erasing the drives, different driver revisions for the ICH and reinstalling the operating system wasting hours of their time. This is not just the standard "failure rate" , it is something more.

You posted the crucial and intel forums as a proof for what? I don't see many threads about stability problems there in the first page (in particular in the crucial forum). Try to look at the OCZ forum, every 2 threads there is a stability problem thread. There is also an official statement from OCZ in the very same forum:

Of course they try to minimize the problem, but if there has been an official statement about the issue then it means that it's a little more serious than they want to make us believe.
Even anandtech was able to reproduce the issue on some hardware configurations

"and currently less than 1% of all our customers are affected" it proves that there is issues with a very small percentage of drives, haven't Intel just done the same? And my links prove that also Intel and Crucial have thousands of threads regarding support of their drives as well, so no it doesn't prove anything that I didn't acknowledge.

Heck look at the intel chipset fiasco, would that stop you from buying Intel? no probably not, my point is they are one of the biggest players in the SSD market so there are going to be thousands of people out there with issues, though there are millions who aren't posting because they are happy with their working products. This is a review of a SSD that had no issues and the OCZ bashing has no relation to it, why don't you head on over to GN to give them a bashing if you feel that way inclined, I will continue to enjoy the reviews and take them for what they are.
