Intel Core 2 Duo officially launched.

Intel Core 2 Duo was officially launched July 27, 2006. It was the largest launch from Intel in 13 years, when Intel launched the Pentium processor. The Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme Edition, extreme in both power and price, is available immediately. Intel is aggresively distributing it's processors, and estimates one million Core 2 Duo's to be distributed in 7 weeks. System OEMS such as Dell, Gateway, and HP will still be selling Intel's older Pentium 4 architecture. High-res pictures of the launch can be found here.

1 million cpu's in 7 weeks?

Thats a drop in the bucket compared to what ships weekly.. :eek:

Seems this is just.. a paper launch essentially...

I like the box. Its has a nice blue scheme to it. Hopefully I can get one of these before the end of August. I find it doubtful and some might agree.

so they are basically admitting to a paper launch on July 27 with a expected wait time of 7 weeks? Yeah that makes sense. Why don't they simply officially launch it 7 weeks from now...wait that makes to much sense. Specially when their investors are concern over profit margins.
