While USB 3.0 equipped external hard drives are a dime a dozen, the Verbatim Store'n'Go for Mac adds Firewire 800 to the mix. This makes the external drive rather unique and offers a noticeable price advantage when compared to the likes of LaCie or Freecom variants.

I assume that the test was made on a Windows computer?
What are the diff. between Win / Mac HDD editions? Firewire?

Not a very good drive i think, i bought recently a 750GB iomega usb3 2.5 drive, it is faster than this one, its even faster than some 3.5 drives i have, doesnt need external power and it was cheaper...
All win, but this ones still looks nice though...

Drop the firewire connector and just make it usb3 only imo.

You may also get this unit without FW800, but the fact that some may need this, there are too few other options out there - most of which cost more than this one. Considering that, the Verbatim one is a solid choice.

I agree though, with Thunderbolt and USB 3.0, the Firewire interface is doomed to...disappear...

Given the speeds on firewire compared to usb3, i think it would be better to buy a usb3 add in card if you don't have usb3 for the mucho better speeds.
