While not officially announced, Acer's first netbook powered by Intel's Cedar Trail platform, the Aspire One D270, has popped up in European web stores.

Available for pre-order, the incoming netbook weights 1.3 kg and features a 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) LED backlit display, a 1.6 GHz Atom N2600 processor, Intel GMA3600 integrated graphics, a 320 GB hard drive, LAN, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, a 5-in-1 card reader, a 0.3-megapixel webcam, a multi-touch trackpad, a HDMI output, and a 6-cell battery enabling up to 8 hours of operation.

There are two versions of the Aspire One D270 currently listed, one which costs 259 Euro, has 2 GB of RAM, and runs Linpus Linux, and one priced at 299 Euro with 1 GB of RAM and Windows 7 Starter pre-installed.

That screen and y=600 on a 10.1" is an embarrassment for 2012. SONY's netbook range in 2009 (the W11 series) had 1366x768 see here

And the second embarrassment is W7 Starter. And more expensive and only 1GB! HAHA. Microsoft should PAY YOU to install W7 Starter. It is a very poor version of W7 and, as said many times, guarantees an upgrade to W7 or puts you off W7 completely! (as in my case, after experiencing W7S I decided to stick with XP/2K3)

I didn't really mind Win7 Starter. It felt pretty ok. I think it should be free though.

My old Gateway came with better bits and bobs in comparison. (acer owns gateway) Maybe these are just meant to be cheapies?
