Japanese company RATOC introduced the REX-USB3HDMI display adapter. The device connects to a host machine over USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface, taking both power and connectivity from a single cable, and gives out a single HDMI display output. Under the hood is a DisplayLink-designed chipset, which went on to certify the device. While the device still works at its resolution over USB 2.0, USB 3.0 is recommended for smoother display and video playback. Measuring 42 x 64 x 14 mm (WxDxH), the device weighs about 26 g. Its highest resolution supported is 2048 x 1536. It's possible to connect as many as six of these devices to a single USB 3.0 hub without facing performance issues. Slated for mid-March, the RATOC REX-USB3HDMI is priced at 10,500 JPY (US $131).
