Fresco Logic Inc., a global leading fabless semiconductor company providing advanced solutions that deliver highly-efficient connectivity, such as USB 3.0 and PCI Express for next-generation consumer electronics, personal computing, storage and mobile devices, today demonstrates Thunderbolt to USB 3.0 docking at Computex Taipei 2012.
The upstream of the Dock offers simultaneous bi-directional, 10 Gbps transfer speeds over a single Thunderbolt cable. The downstream features USB 3.0 connectivity, Ethernet, and HDMI. Users can connect multiple Thunderbolt-enabled or USB3.0 enabled devices to transfer large files while watching Full HD 1080p movies and view cloud content at Gigabit Ethernet speed.
"Intel and Fresco Logic have worked closely on the USB3.0 implementation for the Thunderbolt Dock design," said Jason Ziller, Intel's Director of Thunderbolt Marketing. "We are pleased with the progress so far and feel OEM/ODM will be able to leverage the design to more quickly deliver products to the market."
"Thunderbolt is a new, high-speed I/O technology designed for performance, simplicity and flexibility, with lightning fast transfer speeds. While USB is the most popular and widely adopted connectivity in PC, Mobile and consumer electronics market," said Jing-fan Zhang, CEO of Fresco Logic Inc., "the Dock provides a perfect match and much-needed bridge for Thunderbolt to meet USB 3.0. Users can enjoy the benefit of both technologies for fast speed as well as ubiquitous connectivity."
