Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking and network and direct attached storage solutions, today announced a refreshed lineup of the AirStation HighPower line of wireless routers and access points with the introduction of WZR-600DHP, WZR-300HP and WHR-300HP. This comprehensive refresh includes firmware enhancements to Buffalo's award-winning HighPower technology along with a new setup process that allows router configuration from smartphone and tablet devices, further improving performance, range and usability.
The refreshed trio of AirStation HighPower wireless routers ships with an updated version of DD-WRT firmware pre-installed and Buffalo firmware is available for free from the Buffalo downloads site. These updated firmware versions, also available to select legacy models as an example of Buffalo's commitment to existing users, provide greater stability and increased performance for better overall functionality. Additionally, the refreshed collection touts a new user setup and a printed admin and access card designed for simple configuration in just a few steps. Once the router is physically connected and powered, the unit will automatically detect the Internet connection allowing users to set the SSID and password along with administrative credentials. Within minutes of opening the box users will have a secure, stable, high speed wireless network without the pains of configuring complicated settings.
"This product refresh provides our customers a unique blend of class-leading features and outstanding performance for an enhanced user experience and greater wireless capabilities," said Brian Verenkoff, director of product marketing at Buffalo Technology (USA), Inc. "By introducing these performance upgrades across an existing lineup we're setting an example of dedication to our current customers as well as laying a foundation for future AirStation generations."
AirStation HighPower routers offer greater Wi-Fi capabilities through increased wireless range and speed for enhanced coverage and performance at range. Utilizing high-quality, optimized high-gain antennas and onboard power amplifiers to notably boost signal strength, HighPower technology greatly extends wireless range to fill in unwanted holes and boost wireless coverage. This unique feature makes spotty coverage a thing of the past, killing dead spots for broader connectivity and multimedia streaming experiences.
A long mainstay in the open source community, all AirStation HighPower routers ship DD-WRT pre-installed, delivering a robust, easy-to-use feature-set for consumer and small business users. A variety of professional features are supported, including PPTP VPN and OpenVPN, Virtual AP (multi-SSIDs for multi-connection and security), RADIUS server, hotspot support, detailed monitoring and more. This extensive list of high-end features included on all AirStation HighPower routers with DD-WRT allows users to maximize the use of their router for new applications, unlocking the potential of their wireless network.
Present customers running the prior AirStation HighPower router models WZR-HP-AG300H, WZR-HP-G300NH and WHR-HP-G300N are invited and encouraged to upgrade to the updated firmware. This allows legacy users to take advantage of the new enhancements in performance, stability, range and reliability with a free firmware download at here.
WZR-600DHP
Buffalo's AirStation HighPower N600 Gigabit Dual Band Wireless Router WZR-600DHP replaces the WZR-HP-AG300H and is a versatile dual band solution, ideal for the home and small office environments. Available in early September, the WZR-600DHP has an estimated street price of $119.99.
WZR-300HP
Replacing the WZR-HP-300NH, Buffalo's AirStation HighPower N300 Gigabit Wireless Router WZR-300HP operates on the 2.4 GHz band with speeds up to 300 Mbps and offers the same robust feature set as the WZR-600DHP in a universal, single band wireless solution. The WZR-300HP will be available in early September at an estimated street price of $84.99.
