Corsair Clarifies Francisco Partners Deal

Late last week, it surfaced that Corsair could be in acquisition talks with tech venture capital firm Francisco Partners. At the time, the possibility of those talks leading to something other than acquisition, something more along the lines of an investment by Francisco Partners in Corsair.

Corsair clarified that Francisco Partners is investing $75 million, making it a shareholder in Corsair, and that the deal is not an acquisition. The investment won't cause any changes to Corsair's management team, and none are planned. Corsair maintains that it's been largely profitable and reporting positive net incomes over the past 19 years it's been in business, and has no intention of getting itself sold. Corsair also stated that this investment by Francisco Partners could let it make other acquisitions, such as the recent Raptor Gaming one.

It's good that they won't be bought but I guess 75 mil gives Francisco Partners a place at the decision table regarding future projects ? Hopefully it will be ok.

CORSAIR is best and bigger brand of that type in IT Industry.
I mean on COOLERMASTER, Thermaltake, Thermalright, Enermax, NZXT, Zalman, Fractal Design and many more...
CORSAIR have best standard, best business politic, far best design team, their products are modern, with good warranty and best technical support and they are present only on markets with good laws and stable politic where they can answer on buyers need without problems with little retailers about warranty, RMA,...
Their absence from unstable markets and strict standards talk how brand is serious and if you ask me IT market today would be better without all only with CORSAIR than without only CORSAIR.

I may be very wrong but I thought they needed money. That was why they were looking into and IPO and so on right? If so, they receive and investment and then spend it on more acquisitions...?

IMO Corsair lost their way 3-4 years ago with their rapid expansion into new areas of PC sales where they had no expertise. This has resulted in a lot of product and customer issues which has damaged their rep and forced long time Corsair product user's like me to look elsewhere for new product purchases. I suspect Corsair will be owned by some other firm within the next 3 years, if they are still in Biz.
