Today, NVIDIA launches their new GTX 760 that sets out to provide affordable gaming to the mass market. With a competitive price of $249, it easily beats everything AMD has to offer.

It clearly beats the 7950 at a much lower price point, job well done; AMD drop your prices already!

Listed for 239€ in Europe... Would of liked to see it a tad bit cheaper, maybe 229€, but it's not too bad. How does it stack up against the Tahiti LE variants of 7870? I'd be interested in seeing that.

It makes the 7870 LE irrelevant,an well overclocked 7950 will still beat the 760 when both are clocked to the max but a 7870 wont.

As expected. Slower than a 670 but somehow they were able to flop the architecture and and make it consume more power. Not worth buying new atleast because there are 670s around the same price now. And since ppl have been upgrading to the 700 series there are alot of second hand 670s out there for even less. My obvious choice.

Wouldn't say it's irrelevant, because it's 199€ vs. 239€ so 40€ cheaper. But I would agree that it's pretty much worth the extra 40€.

Quick question , maybe I missed it in review ,were the 660ti and 760 done on same drivers ?
only ask cause I see 2 drivers listed 320.18 and 320.39

My guess is that the result you see for the 660ti is from back when the card was released or from when its latest variant was released,it would quite taxing to test each card in each game in each resolution every time a new driver is released.

660ti.
760.
7950 OG.
7870XT LE
Hainan Pro?

They're all the same performance configured slightly differently.
Take into account mem bw is about 16% performance per doubling, nvidia only bw efficiency is similar to only needing it for shader processors (not sfu), and that AMD's arch is around 97% that of nvidia.

7950 is a 1792 part that is locked to hit around 1050mhz.
7870xt is a 1536sp part that essentially isn't locked (1200+mhz).
Hainan pro will likely be a higher stock clocked 7870XT config to compete with 760/670.

660ti is a card limited to using in the low 1400sp (counting sfu) because of ROPs running at 980mhz. It's purpose is to have more ipc than 7870 because 660 does not.

760 is a card with 1344sp (counting sfu) that's bw (or clock) independently make up the performance difference with 660ti pretty much exactly...normalized they would be exactly the same. It's purpose is to do the same as 660ti plus position itself better against all of AMD's cards that are slightly faster than 660ti because of a higher tdp.

Find whatever is cheapest and be happy imho, they'll all overclock to have a very nice 1080p experience.

Price is good, but 670 is faster and uses less power. Clearly that earlier configuration was working out far better than this two disabled SMs and performance made up for with higher clocks.

So will the 660 ti, 670, and 680 all be discontinued now?

Side note - could you start testing for coil whine in the noise section?

It's a good card in terms of framerate and features, but I really don't like that cooler.

It's noisy, hot and ugly - nothing to recommend it. nvidia normally make really quiet and efficient coolers, so I think they've let the side down today.

If I was in the market for this card, I'd go for a non-reference model with a custom cooler without thinking twice about it.

WEll, a card that is faster than a stock HD7950 and cheaper. If I could grab a second HD7950 for 200$, that would be nice :D but I don't think so. I thin waiting AMD next GPU will be a good idea, as for the money, my HD7950 is still doing fine.

Thanks for the review!!

I'd still take a 7950 over this turd anyday. More VRAM, way more overclocking headroom and way better temps. 82C at stock clocks means this card has no overclocking potential whatsoever.

And well well, isn't that a surprise -- higher power consumption on newer series cards running on even more cutback silicon, after I've said it time and time again that last gen Keplers were self-throttling turds made to cheat power consumption charts & steal them from AMD. Oh and GG on the whole GPU Boost 2 bullshit, way to market the same shitty cards with the REAL VBIOS profiles that should've shipped with all cards originally.

Too hot and, by the way,who buys reference cards?
Non-reference cards should provide better thermals ,but they come with a price .
So, this last breath of GK104 is nothing more than squeezing the last buck out of it before back to school or even christmas ...
