ASUS today announced the EB50N NearField Stereo Headset, the world's first Bluetooth 4.0 headset with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. The EB50N features Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) to give users improved sound quality and energy efficiency at the same time; while NFC technology provides one-touch device pairing and allows users to simultaneously connect two devices to the headset. A full-range audio driver provides crystal-clear sound while its ergonomic design and long battery life ensure hours of comfortable music-listening or hands-free voice calls.

High performance Bluetooth 4.0 with EDR and NFC EZ pairing
The ASUS EB50N NearField Stereo Headset has the latest Bluetooth 4.0 with EDR, giving users improved sound quality thanks to faster data transfer rates and extremely low energy consumption figures for up to 250 hours of standby time, or up to 6 hours of hands-free talk time or audio streams.

NFC EZ one-touch device pairing technology lets users automatically sync the EB50N by placing it within 3cm (1-inch) of any Bluetooth-enabled device. A multi-point connection mode allows the EB50N to pair with two devices simultaneously to save users the trouble of switching between each one.

Crystal clear true audio and three-way communication
The ASUS EB50N NearField Stereo Headset makes use of a full range 8 mm driver with echo cancellation and noise isolation for improved call quality and audio playback. A clever combination of design and exclusive materials help balance out the air flow within the driver to minimize distortion for crystal-clear sound.

The EB50N also supports Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), giving users the ability to stream audio from multiple sources like smartphones, tablets, Bluetooth-enabled notebooks, or MP3 players.

The EB50N has three-way communication support to let users speak to two parties simultaneously. Users can also put one party on hold while speaking in private with the other.

Ergonomically designed for user comfort
The ASUS EB50N NearField Stereo Headset has been designed to ensure user comfort even after long hours of use. The ear-hanger design comfortably hooks over users' ears, while three buds of varying sizes ensure a snug in-ear fit.

The EB50N's left headset houses a LED indicator and the power button, while the right houses a micro USB port for fast charging. A durable braided cable connects the headsets to a built-in microphone with full track selection, volume, and play/pause controls, allowing users to easily switch between their music and calls.

Competitors seem to be in the $70 to $150 range. I wouldn't expect the price of this to make anyone else worry. Seems interesting though.
