D-Link, the networking solutions provider for small business and medium enterprise IT environments, today announced a new 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ Adapter (DXE-810S) designed for high-speed PCI Express bus architectures. Offering increased bandwidth, reliability and expanded functionality over standard PCI network cards, the new DXE-810S allows throughput at rates up to 20 Gbps, eliminating the bottlenecks that exist with current 32 and 64-bit PCI bus architectures.

"With the ever-increasing adoption of 10 Gigabit Ethernet in small and medium enterprise IT environments, the DXE-810S is ideal for enabling 1GbE to 10GbE migration in bandwidth-intensive workstation applications and for low-end to mid-range network appliances," said Steven Olen, director of product marketing, D-Link Systems, Inc. "With the DXE-810S, IT network administrators working with high-performance systems can eliminate bottlenecks and improve speed and reliability drastically."

About the DXE-810S
The DXE-810S delivers reliable, high-speed data transmission performance, minimal power consumption with a 4.48 watt maximum draw, and a range of advanced traffic and security management features; additional benefits include:
Onboard 802.1Q VLAN Tagged Ethernet Screening - Allows users to assign multiple subnets to each server and isolate
  • devices within each VLAN from the rest of the network for better traffic control and security
  • Advanced Network Management - Supports advanced features such as 802.3x Flow Control, Jumbo Frames and SNMP for network management and can easily interoperate with current networking equipment.
  • Checksum Offloading - Features TCP, UDP and IP checksum offloading functionality, transferring the checksum processing tasks from the computer's CPU to the network card to reduce CPU processing burden
  • Low Power Consumption - Maximum power consumption of 4.48 watts for increased efficiency and power savings

Availability
The new 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ Adapter (DXE-810S) is currently available for $339.99 through D-Link's vast network of channel partners, including value-added resellers and distributors and online retailers.

Price seemed kinda high for D-Link, then I look around and see it on Newegg for $215. That's more like it! :D

Anyhoo, the DXE-810S hypervisor/OS support is listed on it's product page.
