Toshiba's new HG6 Series is an incremental update over the HG5d Series and claims the performance throne in our new real-life SSD benchmarking suite. Toshiba's latest model is also cheaper than the predecessor, which even makes it an excellent choice for value-oriented buyers.

...No overprovisioning...
There still is overprovisioning. It's 256-238.5 GiB = 17.5 GiB worth of storage space that you don't get access to.

This has always bothered me as well. SandForce whitepapers define OP as including the ~7.37% "inherent overprovisioning."

I wouldent get it simply because it only has 2 year warranty, and the speed differences are negligible between SSD's these days.

Like everybody else, for the context of our reviews we define overprovisioning as an extra space set aside

If everybody (who?) else gets it wrong, why should you too, despite knowing what overprovisioning technically is and what its purpose is?

Nice review, Thanks.

I wouldent get it simply because it only has 2 year warranty, and the speed differences are negligible between SSD's these days.

Is a reason not to get it as a lot of SSD's have 3 years.

That's exactly what it is though. The drive physically has 256 GiB which is then overprovisioned ~7.37% to ~238 GiB. Anandtech's Kristian Vättö as well as HardOCP's Hugh Briggs use this definition of overprovisioning in their reviews.

Hello,

This Toshiba SSD doesn't use Toshiba adaptive SLC emulation (first 50% LBAs are written using the fastest page off the MLC) ?

Thanks

It does support Adaptive Size SLC Write Cache technology.

If yes it will be interesting to have information on the impact on write performance when none of this fastest page are available (write speed of 200 ? 100 MB /s ?) and on the write related to this technology (first wrote to "slc" page, then move it)
