The Antec P100 is the compact mid-tower version of the P280, following the same interpretation of a high quality enthusiast chassis. We take the chassis for a spin to see whether it revs up just as nicely as its big brother or ends up being short on horse power.

In the top is a cut-out for two 120 mm or 140 mm fans, though it may also hold up to a 280 mm radiator. It is extruded slightly, giving you some more space internally.
While that is true, I doubt that they did it for space. Most likely, it's to add strength and rigidity to the top.
I see they learned from the P280. The stupidly located fan controller is gone for one thing. I just wish that they'd make the front compatible with 140 mm fans.

The front does support 140mm fans. Just didnt learn about the terrible HDD cage. Mount any hard drive, will block the slots for any airflow. They also removed the internal fan mounting.
Still Antec have not learned anything.

The current going price here in the UK is about £66 (November 2014), the lack of features in this case make it pretty poor value for money. A few quid more and you could get a Fractal R4 (built like a tank) or Corsair 330R.

I will admit a long time ago Antec made some of the best cases and their prices were justified, today the quality is average but the price remains high (Nineteen Hundred...)

Seriously you could do huge damage with an R4 side panel...

The review was posted Nov. 10th, but the first post in this thread was Sept. 8th. How does that work?

It's currently $69 on Amazon with prime. Seems to be pretty good overall if you have spare 140mm fans, yet most of the 'public opinion' of the case seems to be bad for no apparent reason besides the fixed drive cages.

Currently deciding between this and a Define R4, which is $30-40 more and no free shipping.

This is the Antec 1100 slightly redesigned, which received 9.0 in December 2011... what's wrong with you people?

By the cases we have today, it is a poor choice. In terms of airflow and functionality. Even then the Antec 1100 was not a good case, while others are better.
Antec does not have the ability anymore to keep up.

Actually, I think the P280 is the 1100's quiet twin.
I don't feel that these "Performance" cases are "gaming" cases. These are meant for building a workstation. And for that, they're about perfect. I like the Refine and Nanoxia cases, but their control panels face up, which is just wrong for me.
Antec reminds me of Maxwell Smart: "Missed me by that much." They get so close, but their mistakes really taint otherwise good products. I feel that the P280 was designed on some CAD station and then they ordered them, without taking the extra time and expense of making and testing a prototype. With 3D printers today, there's no excuse for not doing that.
If I already didn't have my P280, I'd be buying one of these in a heart beat. The P280 is just too big.

As far as silent case pricing goes, the Antec P100 is well priced at $70-90 when you consider that its main competitor, the Fractal Design Define R4, goes for $90-110 here in Canada. They share essentially the same features, although the Antec P100 does lack the modular hard drive cage and it comes with smaller fans by default (120 mm in the P100 vs 140 mm in the Define R4). For the price difference, it makes sense.

These aren't high airflow performance cases and shouldn't be considered so, especially in their default configuration (e.g. top fan slots covered by noise dampening material).

On one hand, this is the first case I've seen that includes a USB 2.0 connector for the USB 3.0 cable. Not a feature that you'll use often, but you'll be thankful for it if you ever need it.

On the other hand... no 2.5" trays behind the motherboard to make use of that 30mm of space, no PWM fans nor fan controller (seriously, who is going to open their case just to adjust fan speeds?), no way of installing a radiator in the front of the case.. These are features that other cases have been offering as standard for years. I have to agree that this doesn't feel like a 9.2 case.

@Darksaber - the first page of the review states that the case ships with 3 fans (1 front, 1 rear, 1 top) but I could only see 1 front and 1 rear.

well i have this case and i must say its the best case i ever had, first it doesnt have plastic feel like fractal competitor, and if you use 280mm radiator on top with some sort of all in one water cooling and 2 front 140 mm fans + one rear 120mm you get (assuming you have motherboard that can connect 5 fans and controll them) pretty much lots of airflow fully automated ,dependent of pc use, quiet/high flow case, there is more than enough space behind motherboard so you can hide all the cables you want, and no hard disc cages dont block air flow at all... if it was up to me i would give this case 10/10 without even considering how much value you get for money. in europe this case ships with 2 fans but i assume in america with 3 , that would also explain price difference

Wait..., they're using "bending plastic" instead of actual buttons?!? How long will that last?

Yeah, I just got an Antec P100 and I am not impressed by the power button either. It looks like Antec uses the same design for the Antec ISK600.

Like you wrote, it's a plastic cover that bends and clicks the button. It works well enough, but I find it weird that the travel distance is bigger for the power button than the reset button. There is also some resistance that is a too much to my liking, but there won't be any risk of accidentally hitting these buttons.

No idea how strong it is, but I guess it'll do. I wouldn't have mind a simple button instead of this.

Overall though, this is still a wonderful case for the price. I snagged it for as little as $70. At that price, nothing comes close to it, especially in the silence department but even in comparison to many other ATX cases.

(now that I have one) A very long time. I don't have any complaints.
