BenQ XL2730Z 27-inch AMD FreeSync Monitor to Launch Next Week

BenQ XL2730Z, a 27-inch monitor featuring support for AMD FreeSync, will be available from April 30. Designed for gaming PC builds, the XL2730Z offers WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) native resolution, with 144 Hz refresh rate, and 1 ms response time. It can synchronize its refresh-rate with the GPU's output frame-rate between 40 Hz and 144 Hz. To be able to use FreeSync, you need to plug the monitor to a graphics card featuring DisplayPort 1.2a (or higher) output. Currently, only select AMD Radeon GPUs, such as the R9 285, R9 290, R9 290X, and R9 295X2 support DP 1.2a. Other vitals include 170°/160° (H/V) viewing angles, 120,000:1 contrast-ratio, and 350 cd/m² maximum brightness. Slick looks aside, its gamer-friendly features include an accessible physical control pad, a USB 3.0 hub, and a headset stand. The XL2730Z will be priced at US $599.

Yes, Apr 30 is its global availability. Prices will be the equivalent of $599 + whatever local taxes/markups.

higher res then "full HD" and 144hz.
4k at anything higher then 60hz seems to be quite far off still.

Meaning you have to make a choice, making this rather relevant.

If you take a look at the Steam Hardware Survey you will find that around one out of 2,000 people are using 4K to game on and there is a reason for it. It will probably increase in popularity as GPUs advance to handle it.

Saw this on display in my local PC shop a couple of days ago. For a TN panel the colours and black levels were really quite nice. There was a GW2765HT next to it (the monitor I use) and the colours weren't that much worse compared to the IPS panel in the GW2765HT and I thought the blacks were very nice as well on the demo they were playing. Also the build quality was much nicer on the XL than the GW.

Still though $599US. Shame it is $1000AUD here... :'(

From the reviews so far on this monitor it equals anything an IPS panel can do as far as colours are concerned. Just an awsome monitor tbh, but that price is ridiculous.

Well, "still a TN panel" is a bit unfair. I think that just because we have IPS panels now, does not automatically mean that TN is a cheap/low quality panel type. Don't forget the Asus ROG Swift is $800 and it is "still a TN panel".

While I agree they are overpriced, just because it's a TN panel doesn't necessarily make it a "cheap" monitor right off the bat. It has a lot of nice things going for it, great res, WONDERFUL stand if you like adjusting your monitor, and great color reproduction once calibrated, USB 3.0 HUB and of course more than just a DP input (Looking at you G-Sync). I would bet, looking at this straight on playing a game at 144FPS vs an IPS panel next to it at 60FPS, you would play on the BenQ.

I own the BenQ XL2430T, kinda the little brother to the XL2730Z without the FreeSync/G-Sync.. And I love it. Yeah, "it's still a TN panel", but you wouldn't be able to hardly tell at first glance.. especially after some optimization (which it did need a little of). But that 144Hz though.. Hard to go back.
