Intel "Skylake" NUC Desktops Now Official

Intel officially launched its new generation NUC desktops, complete with reference-design chassis; based on the company's 6th generation Core "Skylake" processors. Intel launched two main models, which each have variants based on chassis design - the NUC6i5SY, based on the Core i5-6260U processor; and the NUC6i3SY. The two each have variants with a compact chassis, with just enough room for an M.2 SSD (NUC6i5SYK and NUC6i3SYK); and those with room for a 2.5-inch SATA drive in addition to the M.2 SSD (NUC6i5SYH and NUC6i3SYH). NUC boards for the two are available without the chassis, opening things up for custom, third-party cases.

For office this look nice but for home I think Steam machines will take the lead.

I've looked at i3-6100 benchmarks and it looks like an adequate CPU for multimedia and productivity. If their U-series performs at least half as good, I might just buy it =)

It all depends on the use, NUCs are without dGPU but a Steam Machine or a NUC let's just call them miniPCs since they both are that can both be with only iGPU and if they use similar CPUs the performance should be about the same.

Buy things based on specifications, quality, price and not based on a brand.

I've built several box-sized office machines based on Celeron J1900. They were more than adequate for the task, so i3-6100 would be more than adequate.
