VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions, today announced that all VIA Vinyl HD audio codecs have passed the Microsoft Windows Vista 32bit/64bit Premium logo tests, ensuring users can feel the warmth of sound in the Vista environment.
As the x86 PC platform rapidly becomes the premier solution for home entertainment devices, consumers are demanding support for the latest high definition audio content, support which is offered by the 8-channel VIA Vinyl VT1708 and VT1708A audio codecs. Moreover, with computers increasingly being used for communications through technologies such as VOIP, VIA Vinyl HD audio codecs integrate a high quality amplifier and enhanced recording support to deliver crystal clear communications.
The confirmation of the Microsoft Windows Vista Premium logo ensures that the VIA Vinyl HD audio codecs will perform to these high standards with the new operating system, and that all of their quality features can be enjoyed with Microsoft's Ultimate, Enterprise, Business and Home Premium editions or Windows Vista, while customers can enjoy trouble free driver installation and use of these codecs.
"Microsoft awards the Premium logo to those partners who strive to provide their customers with reliable, high performance products for the Windows Vista environment," commented Richard Brown, Vice President of Marketing, VIA Technologies, Inc. "With this certification, our customers can prepare exciting new products requiring high fidelity audio with an assurance of performance and support with Vista."
The VIA Vinyl VT1708 and VT1708A audio codecs integrate stereo DACs with 100dB S/N ratios and they are eight channel, 24-bit, 192kHz standard. Excellent power management capabilities also make them ideal for mobile devices.
Product Availability and Pricing
The VIA Vinyl VT1708 and VT1708A HD audio codecs are available now, and boards featuring these codecs are available from leading motherboard manufacturers. The VIA VT1708A will also feature on the forthcoming VIA EPIA EX and NX series Mini-ITX mainboards. To learn more about the VT1708 and VT1708A please click here.
