Other information to surface from WCCFTech's leak on the upcoming Radeon Software Crimson ReLive drivers, is its dual nature, for both consumers and professionals. The Radeon Technologies Group is seemingly on a crusade to bolster AMD's software support recognition with customers, and that naturally extends towards the professional side of the equation as well.
As such, the first immediate feature to be introduced is AMD's Pro Renderer, a physically-based rendering engine that enables production of photorealistic images, with both plugin and native integration support from the big names in professional workflows, such as Autodesk's 3DS Max, Autodesk Maya, and Blender (just to name a few), along with game-engine integration and support through the Unity Engine and Stingray. LiquidVR support is also headed for professionals, enabling professional VR workflows in design, engineering, animation, filmmaking, and VR game engines.
AMD is offering a Core, free and open-source Linux Driver, as well as its own, higher-performance, proprietary driver, for discerning and deep-pocketed customers for whom the additional investment makes sense. AMD are committing themselves further towards the enterprise segment. This means quarterly features, performance, and stability improvements, to be released on the 4th Thursday of each quarter, stressing unprecedented driver stability and reliability. According to AMD, this adds up to 2x more OEM platform testing, 3x more ISV certification testing, and 1.5x more stress testing on their enterprise driver releases, adding to an already high number of Radeon Pro Software Certifications in both the CAD & Engineering and Media & Entertainment segments.
Regarding performance, the ReLive release is touted as bringing massive performance improvements for some given applications, when compared to the 14.502.1019 driver: the FirePro W7100 sees improvements of 17%, 18% and a staggering 30% on PTC Creo, Siemens NX and Dassault Catia respectively.
Finally, when it comes to virtualized graphics, the ReLive release now features VmWARE Sphere 6.5 support, bringing multiple certifications to the VM environment, as well as the absence of any licensing fees and the guarantee of deterministic performance across virtual machines, thus moving forward the ROCm initiative's three-pronged stance on performance, openness and commitment towards future improvements and developments.
WCCFTech reports that the AMD Crimson Relive Edition will be officially available on 8th December at 9 A.M EST.
