Seasonic Increases PRIME Series PSU Warranty to 12 Years

In early 2003 the ATX Mainboard 20-Pin connector was upgraded to the current ATX 24-Pin connector. Although rumors for another change have since been around, the 24-Pin standard continues and there is still no significant change in sight. Even as CPU speed, system components evolve, we still see many of our customers holding on to the most basic and important of their components, the power supply. We have end users reporting to us that their 10 years old Seasonic power supply is still running strong and we are so happy to hear this because this affirms that we have done what we set out to do; provide a long term, cost effective, and environmentally sustainable solution to our customers.



We want to continue to do our best to keep the trust of our customers. We want them to know that when they buy a Seasonic power supply, they buy for the long term.

For this reason, effective immediately, the factory warranty on all Seasonic PRIME series power supplies will be upgraded from the current 10 years to an industry leading 12 years. This also includes all PRIME units that have already been sold prior to this date. This not only demonstrates the trust and belief in our own products but we also want to prove and show our appreciation to our customers for their support. We have their backs as they can change all their other components but the Seasonic power supply will just keep on working and will be protected with an exceptionally strong factory warranty.

This is awesome fucking news! I just replaced my lot of X-Series Gold/Platinum units in all my systems with Prime Platinum/Titanium ones.

Been using Seasonic / Seasonic based units in all of my personal systems and those for friends & family pretty much exclusively the past 7-8+ years and have been extremely pleased. Out of probably 25-30 units I've only had issues with one and it was one of the original KM models in a personal system and Seasonic crossshipped me a replacement.

Only thing that sucks with this is that at least here in Europe, you get 2-3 years of warranty from the distributor, but for anything more, you have to send it abroad directly to service centers. And sending a heavy PSU at least in my country means quite ridiculous shipping costs.

Well in my country (The Netherlands, Europe) you get the 10 years from the e-tailer, if you have any problems with it you send it straight back to them and just get a new one if it's faulty.

Hi, we have a service center in Germany, not the closest to Slovenia but nevertheless, better than sending it back to the factory in the Far East. Edit: i see you have a 144hz monitor, so you may consider a system refresh.

I was considering moving to an Asrock Z270 pairing with an i7-7700k, perhaps I should just consider a complete refresh in the end, as my 144hz monitor isn't getting used at all unless it's CSGO or BF1 at lower settings..tough decision to make unfortunately.

I've got a 2700K and it worked beautifully with my now sadly departed GTX 1080. The performance difference over an RX 480 is enormous, so it's definitely worth switching, plus you get the excellent FastSync, which is a killer feature in my book. Also, your CPU isn't that much slower than mine, so bottlenecking won't be a problem most of the time. Yes, these CPUs are getting old now and do show their limitations at times (eg Far Cry 4 framerates only 70-100fps) but wait until the second half of this year for Cannonlake before upgrading.

But...

The GTX 1080 Ti is gonna go on sale on the 10th, so definitely wait until then, since GTX 1080 prices are likely to go down even further, given the $700 price point of the 1080 Ti Founders Editions. You might also want to wait for Vega, but that's a bit further out and I reckon it won't topple NVIDIA, just like Ryzen didn't topple Intel.

I'm waiting until the 10th before deciding on what graphics card to replace my defunct 1080 with, so I recommend you do the same.

Not a bad idea to wait it out actually.. may find a few bargains going around next week, perhaps I'll just upgrade everything else in the mean time *.*

TBH I wouldn't, even if your 2500K is highly overclocked, also what resolution do you game at?

Bog standard 1080p on my 144hz monitor however.

My 2 month old ram was faulty, but in other for the vendor uphold their warranty commitment, I had to pay them $50 upfront just to check whether in fact it was faulty, and if it was faulty, I had to wait up to 8 weeks for the replacement, otherwise I had to pay a new ram now, and wait 6-8 weeks for the refund. And after 5 years or more, good luck with the vendors. Not to mention, the fact of trying to get hold of the receipt for 12 years.

Are you able to tell me when the 1000W PRIME Titanium will release? Really want one for my next build and I thought it would have been out by now. Love the PRIME Titanium series, I just don't think 850W will be enough for me.

Wow that's great to see confidence in a product by the manufacturer.

I bought a Corsair AX860i 9 months ago and it was having weird intermittent issues restarting the computer in a 1 second loop. Also, the Corsair Link software wouldn't show any data coming from the PSU. The test led on the PSU showed green but after trying another replacement unit, my system has been stable ever since.

I also, had my ASUS Gene Viii motherboard tested by ASUS and my CPU and RAM tested too.

Now I see a huge warranty like 12 years! I think I want to build my next system with Seasonic.
