The Fractal Design Focus G is the company's current entry-level ATX chassis. It comes in multiple colors and sports a sub-US$50 price tag, which makes it an extremely interesting choice for budget-minded first-time builders. With some of the DNA of the Core 2300, it will be interesting to see how things have evolved over time.

Another case review with no thermal results, no noise results, no discussion of the cooling performance of the case, no discussion of whether the case effectively dampens noise.

At this point, why are you even bothering to do case reviews? Literally the only thing these are good for is telling someone the specs (Which are elsewhere), that the case exists (Which is elsewhere), and whether the case fits your, and only your, specific set of test hardware (Which they always do, because PC case makers aren't trash in 2018).

While the 5.25" bays are becoming a thing of the past, you can make use of them for mounting HDD/SSD with 5.25" hard drive brackets, essentially bringing the number of possible drives it can hold up to 4 or 5. Or, one could remove the HDD cage (though I'm not sure it can be done on this case) and resort to having 1 SSD mounted on the back of the MB tray and convert the 5.25" bays to hold a couple other drives, thus eliminating the HDD cage to allow better air flow.

I pulled the HDD cages in my Fractal Design Arc XL case and mounted my two HDDs in 2 of the 4 5.25" bays at the top. Opens up the center of the case to allow better air flow from the front intake fans.

probably one of the most passive aggressive reivews out here... Where's the noise test & airflow test? Temperature tests of both idle & under full load?? Also, get rid of that power vampire of an optical drive. It's bulky, tend to break down first & no one uses discs to store their stuff.

I still backup important data on CD/DVD or spare drives. I don't do cloud storage for anything....I don't trust it

Plus, I still have a slew of older games that I install from discs from time to time, so I still make use of optical drives myself. Though, I think I'm becoming a rare breed.

well there's always external HDDs you can rely on.

Personally, I don't have a 5.25" device installed right now, but I *do* own one I'd like to use again - my Blu-Ray drive. I still buy DVDs cheap, or Blu-Rays when they're on offer or it's a series I really want to have in high quality (Cowboy Bebop, looking at you).

It's a sometimes use-case but it's there, and I haven't been able to find a reasonably good, reasonably priced external 5.25" caddy as of yet to satisfy it.
