ECS is back for the new year with the newest entry into its provocatively named "Lightsaber" line of motherboards; this time with the ECS Z370-Lightsaber. Will ECS deliver an overclocking weapon as effective as the lightsaber is for the Jedi?

Pretty bad price point really. I got my MSI Z370 SLI Plus for only $99 and it has Type C Gen 2 and Type A Gen 2. Not to mention MSI can be trusted with the latest updated and making sure BIOS gets updated in a timely manner in regards to Spectre and Meltdown.

Also mine came with a SLI bridge, probably will never use it, but still a nice touch. I like the steel protection on the PCI-E slots on this generation of motherboards, the fact it is lacking on the ECS is a little troubling to me, not a big deal, but eh.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
What is so provocative about the name lightsaber? I never knew that could annoy or anger someone, lol!

When you ran into overclocking issues, what was holding you back? I know you mentioned a bios flash helped. Was it current limits? Did the board add those options or simply raise unlisted values?

The BIOS update changed hidden values, some sort of current limitation.

Did you note the type of throttling from Hwinfo or XTU? Just wondering what really did it. What kind of throttling you saw. :)
