XSPC has added memory watercooling to their new "Neo" lineup, offering side plates and an acrylic top block in chrome and dark chrome finishes. The aim is to provide users with both matching, RGB-lit waterblocks for their entire system and better cooling than stock RAM heatsinks.

Again, thanks for a reference review. However, it would have been valuable to see what an overclock on the memory at 1.4-1.45v does to the temperature. This is normally the voltage range memory overclockers go to with ambient cooling.

These kinds of reviews are extremely rare and are thus hard to validate against each other. Think computers reviewed another XSPC RAM block a while ago with Samsung Miracle RAM (DDR3), and was able to push higher voltage and speed from gained stability due to better temps. Not that a waterblock is required to achieve what they did, but if aesthetics and water cooling were already prioritized, the RAM block does add something (and not just nothing).

Who wants to cool memory these days? The wattage thus heat output is way lower compared to back in the SDR/DDR days, where you'd blow up to 3.1v into your memory.

I thought about it, but the main issue was that I was doing this on a friend's system and thus I could not have it for a long time. I will be setting up a new test rig soon, so if something like this happens again then I will definitely push the heat further.

I think its 7.88 degres over ambient, herence delta T.

Also funny that the absolute worst results are abtained with the stock "heatsinks".

Bare PCB better that stock cooling. Nice. I wonder if that would change if we just swapped the thermal pads for better ones.

As mentioned by another person here, it's an increment over ambient temperature as described in the text above the chart :)

Looks cool (pun intended) but 99% of users wouldn't need this. I have a RAM cooler (Corsair Vengeance Airflow) and that's just for aesthetics, got it for free.

Good review anyway.

Was recently overclocking my DDR4 to 4200MHz@1.45v and under MemTest64, saw DIMM temps rise up to 34c, which is 14c over my 20c ambient. Using stock g.skill trident z heatsinks and has a 120mm case fan blowing at both sticks. At stock 3600, 1.35v, temps topped 29c. These temp readings are from the EVGA Z370 Micro motherboard.

If your going RAM water cooling, it's not for performance reasons, it's for aestheics or "cause it's there. But enough already"Enough with the LED fad already ... I'm half expecting to see ads for "Manscaping" kits sold with LED Lighting

Um, not necessarily. If there's just enough heat given off by the memory modules that sit right next to your CPU, then that may very well be what keeps it from hitting your desired clock speed, even with a CPU waterblock on it. If we're talking about a difference of up to 18c between stock-cooling on the RAM modules and liquid-cooling the modules on both sides of, say, a 1950X Threadripper, then who knows? You might very well be able to push that puppy up to 4.3 GHz and have it remain stable, and in my eyes, that is money well spent. I mean, if you're liquid-cooling everything else, you might as well finish the job, right?
