3-litre PCs are among the most flexible models in the wide array of space-saving computers. They can be equipped with powerful desktop processors and lots of memory while offering convenient ports on both the front and back. Shuttle has now set itself the goal of making such devices even more versatile. The recent release of the XH110G featured a 3-litre PC with a fully-fledged PCI Express x16 slot. This was preceded by a 3-litre PC with eight serial interfaces and now there is a 3-litre PC with space for four hard disks or SSDs.
Going by the name XH270, the Mini-PC manufacturer today rolls out a model which, despite its overall height of just 72 mm, can accommodate up to four 2.5" drives (hard disks or SSDs). Thanks to RAID support, the drives can be operated in mode 0, 1, 5 or 10. When four drives are installed, each one may be 9.5 mm high, and with two drives a height of even 15 mm is permitted. A U-shaped holder, specifically designed for this model, features stabilisation elements at the sides and so can be mounted securely in the chassis. All required cables are already pre-routed.
Based on the Intel H270 chipset, the XH270 is suitable for current Intel processors with socket LGA 1151 up to a maximum TDP of 65 Watt. The two SO-DIMM slots on the mainboard support a total of 32 GB of DDR4 memory. Also present are two M.2 slots (1x M.2-2280 and 1x M.2-2230), which can be fitted for example with a WLAN module and an NVMe SSD or Optane memory.
Connectivity comprises 4x USB 3.0, 4x USB 2.0, 1x RS-232, audio, 2x Intel Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA arranged on the front and back. The external case dimensions are a slender 24 x 20 x 7.2 cm (DWH).
"We see the XH270 being used as a space-saving workstation or a small server with high storage capacity," says Tom Seiffert, Head of Marketing & PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH. "The two M.2 slots, two network connections and three monitor ports provide the required flexibility for this."
The included 120 Watt power supply unit serves as a reliable power source for even a top-spec XH270 under maximum load.
Optional accessories are a stand for vertical operation (PS01), a VESA mount for monitor/wall mounting (PV02) and a combined WLAN/Bluetooth M.2 module incl. two antennas (WLN-M).
The recommended retail price from Shuttle for the XH270 is EUR 231.00 (ex VAT). This model is available from specialist retailers Europe-wide upon publication of this press release.
