A new addition to ASRock's excellent Phantom Gaming lineup aims to bridge the gap between gaming and professional workloads with the new ASRock X399 Phantom Gaming 6. Has ASRock managed to walk the tightrope and balance gaming flare with productive pragmatism?

DO WANT! not too pricey nice features and ... well Threadripper, even the lowest one has quite a price/perf ratio

still pondering if i would go that upgrade path or a more simpler X470 build ...

but at 249$~ that board is cheaper than some X470 top dogs (at last where i live ...)

Good board for TR4. But AsRock need to ditch Gaming form the name. Name should be X399 Phantom 6.
Only negative is no USB Type-C front panel header.
Did you get a golden sample? 4.35GHz at 1.4v.

im sort of confused regarding the unwanted software comment in the review....the only software that Asrock boards ship with is their Bios, all else is on a disc, but noone uses that, & you only install what you want, so im confused, unless hey have changed something since my last Asrock Board Z370. its best to use their Website for the items you Do need, as always discs are best left to the trash.

I so want this board, it checks off all my wants for a Threadripper build. For me the best is 3 full X16 PCIE slots. That will allow for crossfire and allow me to run my M2 Riser card with 4 NVME installed in RAID 0. I tried to order one of these from Newegg.com and was shocked when I found out that it does not ship to Canada, There is no availablity for Canadian customers to get this board other than some site that is way overpriced.

Well I did not give up on finding this board in Canada. I found it on a site called Vuugo and they had it listed for $419.99. Like most As Rock products it also came with a $40. MIR so I am not too concerned about what I paid. It will be $379.99 after the rebate. Now all I have to do is find a CPU. Is there any opinions for me to use a 1900X (which is the cheapest Threadripper CPU) while I wait for the 3rd Gen of Threadripper?

I was looking at this and actually bought it. I was looking at comparing the 2700X vs the 1900 and found a 1900 CPU for $412.00 on Newegg vs the 2700X for $409.99. I can't afford to buy the MB and CPU at the same time so I would get this as you get 64 PCI-E lanes vs 28 lanes on X470. Not only that but no X470 board (Tachi Ultimate excluded) has the networking capability of this board. I know my dream build will be Just NVME and SSDs no more HDDs!!!!!!

Can it be too good to be true. Since I got the board and it is on it's way I decided to see if I could get a CPU and not have this staring at me. I did a google search for THreadripper and found a 1950X on Ebay for the unbelievable price of $99.99. If it ships I will be over the moon. I will also update you guys on how this paltform compares to the X470 platform. I am going from a Taichi to this board.
