SAPPHIRE Adds New Members to the X1650 Family

Building on the success of its midrange families of graphics accelerators, leading graphics supplier Sapphire Technology has just added several new members to the X1650 series.

The new X1650 series is an enhancement of the successful X1600 series and has been designed to deliver high efficiency, high performance in Shader Model 3.0 and enhanced image quality. The architecture also supports ATI AvivoTM technology delivering vibrant high fidelity images and video playback to the latest High Definition (HD) video standards. The AGP version delivers new affordable levels of display quality and performance over this industry standard graphics interface.

The SAPPHIRE X1650 with its 12 Shader processor units and 4 Pixel pipelines provides excellent graphics performance even for shader intensive gaming and is Microsoft Vista PREMIUM certified. Equipped with either 512MB or 256MB of GDDR2 memory, this model features core clock speeds of 500MHz and memory speeds of 800 MHz.

Also available now, the new SAPPHIRE X1650 AGP shares the same features as the PCI-Express models. Two versions are available, both running at 500MHz core clock speeds but offering a choice of 256 MB or 512 MB of DDR2 memory running at 800MHz.

SAPPHIRE's latest graphics cards are Microsoft Windows Vista ready and supported by the ATI Catalyst suite of software, ensuring customers have easy and ongoing access to software updates for performance, stability and added features

The x1650 and x1600 series is really not that appealing at all. They are generally priced higher and perform worse than competing nVidia solutions on the market. ATI need to work on lower the price on these things to compete with the stronger 7600 series, not releasing more weaker versions.(Talking in the PCI-E world, haven't looked at AGP pricing in a while).

Actually you need to take into account that the X1650XT IS STRONGER than the 7600GT
And also nVidia need to know that DirectX9.0c means HDR+FSAA
It is just plain stupid that even the X1300 HyperMemory can do something that the 7950GX2 sandwich could not

Yes, and the 7600GT is also cheaper and overclocks A LOT better than the x1650XT, once both cards are overclocked the 7600GT comes out ahead both in price and performance.

Personally I don't really care about HDR+FSAA, HDR looks like complete crap in every game it has been used in so far, which is why I stuck with the x800 series even when NVidia could do HDR. HDR=Ugly, so I don't use it.

The x1300 Hypermemory can't do both, well it can, but it can't do both and give framerates of more than 5FPS, so it is pretty pointless. As is trying to get an x1650 series card(yes even the beefier x1650XT) as they are unable to maintain decent framerates with both enabled with all the other graphics settings set to decent levels also.

I owned a x1650XT, it sucked, period. At stock speeds it barely beat the 7600GT I replaced it with. It overclocked like complete crap and once both were overclocked the x1650XT couldn't touch the cheaper 7600GT.

Those are all PCI-E, notice we were talking about AGP. The PCI-E 7600GT can be had from a reputable dealer for $90. And come on, ebay, you are using ebay for your pricing comparisions? Are you serious?
