The Thermaltake S500 TG aims to bring the essential feature-set and look and feel of the A500 to the masses at a fraction of the price. With its bold material mix of plenty of steel and a glass panel, the S500 TG is one of the heavier cases out there, but its mass market price tag makes it worth taking a detailed look.

Im sure designing the top of the case the way they have will restrict airflow. you're forcing the flow of air to bend at an 45' angle and that is never really a good thing.

What is the point of having dust filter on TOP when most will use the top portion to exhaust warm Air out of the Case.

Is it to filter the outgoing air in the room or to keep dust from falling in when system is not in use?

@Darksaber neither you nor TT can count. There are 6 drive mounts, not 5: 2x 2.5" behind the motherboard tray, 1x 2.5" on the PSU cover, 1x 2.5" on the top of the HDD cage, 2x 3.5" in the drive cage.

For 100 bucks this is a pretty solid contender. Guess the almost-identical A500 at $250 isn't moving as many units as TT hoped (surprise surprise).

That said, the vertical mount (unique though it is) and tempered glass are out of place in a $100 chassis. They should've dumped the glass for acrylic (or even a solid side panel) and used the cost saving to include a shroud - having visible HDD cages in 2019 is a big no-no. I guess you could use the single 3.5" mount behind the motherboard tray, but that limits you to a single 2.5" drive on the PSU; I just wish TT had kept up with their style of mounting 3.5" drives vertically at the front right of the chassis.

Still... 100 bucks with the ability to fit 420mm rads in the front isn't something you see every day. I do wonder about the cooling, because the A500 wasn't great in that department.

$100 or not, this case has serious airflow issues. Temps is gonna be toasty inside the case.

Am i missing something or is there an unfiltered opening in the bottom of the front panel? So much use of air filters, yet components will get dirty anyway.
