The Nidus 500 is the first power supply from Pichau Gaming. It might use an old platform, but build quality and overall performance are satisfactory. This is a budget-oriented product, and thanks to its reliable parts, it will easily outlive the short warranty supporting it.

Only one year warranty? Oof. I'd expect no less than 3 years for a low end unit

Kudos for all the effort, very complete review of the unit

It does look like CM's MWE is a somewhat better choice overall, as its similar price.

Brazilian Law sets the Minimum mandatory legal warranty to 3 months only, most brands do 1 year. 3 Years and beyond is rare over here.

Yes, I came here for that...

This reminds me of an eurotech silent psu I bought based on "good" marketing from magazines, oh boy was it a POS that fried quite a few things before i knew what was wrong and including random shutdowns on a P3200 with HT on...
Bought a seasonic S12 600w, the best there was back then...
I learned not to cheap on PSU's since then...

I have to say anyone buying this PSU would be stupid as hell. I fully expect to hear stories of this PSU self igniting and taking the whole house, if not a whole neighborhood, down with it in 3rd world countries where the power grid is flaky.

There is only 1 reason to set warranty period so low, shoddy and sub-standard manufacturing.

I really wasn't expecting this review, never thought I'd see anyone outside of Brazil reviewing one of pichau's products. Kudos to them.

tbh It's not as bad, most products here offer a minor 1year warranty (as said before) but in general last a lot longer, and this PSU specifically seems really well built, as I'm pretty sure they're going to use it in most of their pre-builds, and they wouldn't want it failing in only 1 year.

You have to understand, brazilian market is more about price, there's people over here that buy stuff from china with NO WARRANTY just because its cheaper, the brazilian minimum wage is not even 250 USD per Month. In our biggest marketplace (something like e-bay) is standard to offer 3 months warranty, and everybody uses it, its the most popular marketplace on the country and's not even close.

Thats not just for brazil though - this happens everywhere where the average wage or home income is pretty terrible. Companies have to sell products at a loss in less wealthier countries and hike up the price for western countries to balance things out. Thats why you get people buying brand new phones that are from countries like India or Pakistan and flogging them to westerners on ebay for a cheaper than retail price - because they can still make a profit.

Its illegal (or it should be) but manufacturers are combating this by only releasing handsets are are designated or 'region locked' to a certain part of the world and wont pick up any other signals outside unless that carrier has a base in other countries or a roaming agreement with other networks

Games are the same. Games in some parts of the world are dirt cheap because the average household doesn't have that much disposable income. They want everyone to have their nice new things so they have to price them based on the countries wealth or average income. Thats why G2A and some other key sellers exists. Some games dont have region locking. so folks can obtain cheap keys from a less wealthy nation and sell them on to richer nations for a profit.

When the Samsung S10/S10plus first came out they were £1000. No average joe in pakistan or India would be able to afford that unless they sold a few goats.

Thats how the world works.

M-may I chime in pls?
Electronics in Lithuania. Well we're not Brazil, by a streeeeetch, and I've witnessed that Russia&CIS often have it even worse. But still.
Forget about 10/12 years of Seasonic's pampering. No sir. 36 mo tops. If not 24. The remainder will have to be done thru their RMA facility in Western Europe (Netherlands methinks but not sure... not the point), after you register on their site - which I did. It's how the "distributor" works. Whatever manufacturer isn't as advanced (enter Gigabyte) - you're SOL with a 99.9% probability.
I specifically picked my Samsung 850 PRO from the (only?) local store, a pretty old and renowned one, that had it at 120 mo warranty, back in 2016. Seeing that others had it at 24 or 36 (can't remember, again, not the point), and all of them parse their items from three or four distributors at best, this one probably modified the item page manually, to suit the demand and complaints. And whaddya think? Said store went bust late 2017! Incidentally, the local support page for Samsung products (especially those that aren't smartphones) has always been bust. Luckily, one office picked up not only the branding, but also the responsibilities of the deceased store, so I'm safe :peace:
When, for instance, it comes to PSU brands... not so sure about Lithuania but the front eastward from us is mildly crazy abt Chieftec.
(among various Aerocools, Gamemaxes and Q-dions... but how bout we don't get all depressive) Which, let's be real, is no NZXT tier celebrity outside of Europe. I like to think of 'em as vanilla Sirtecs and CWTs with pretty stickers... if not for the emerging rumours about bait-n-switch  It's all shiny according to reviews though, while the screams on topic of bns are still just screams. IF we disregard the popular A80 that started off as indy reg, then switched to group reg with acceptable componentry, and is now a sorry mess of a group reg...
And this is all in a country that isn't considered "3rd world" too often, but is quite often cheered up for being a "good boy/girl/etc."... won't be degenerating this to the plane of politics but you get the gist.
Thus: never write off (or "on") countries you haven't investigated overly deeply as "3rd world" or "advanced af"... h3ck I'm a far fetch from an expert when it comes to my place, too :p

Well, we've grown accustomed to ridiculously long warranties and nine out of ten times don't even use it properly. Many people, when a seller says 'no', suck it up because its too much effort to them to really exercise their rights.

Warranty isn't everything... yes, it says something about faith in product quality, but lacking warranty doesn't mean quality is absent. Also, we;ve seen tons of products that make it just past warranty. What about that... :D A big part of why we like long warranties is purely emotional. Peace of mind.
