ASUS today rolled out the ROG Theta Electret, a premium stereo variant of the ROG Theta headset from 2019, featuring a hi-fi grade 120 mm electret driver in charge of reproducing extremely precise high and mid frequency sound; while a conventional 45 mm neodymium driver handles lows (bass). Both drivers sit in an airtight chamber. The headset is purely analog, and features conventional 3.5 mm jacks, and ASUS made sure to get rid of all digital components, such as the USB DAC and even the RGB-illuminated ROG logo. Thanks to the electret driver, the headset enjoys a wide frequency-response of 20-40,000 Hz. The detachable microphone, too, is fully analogue. The headset supports both single headphones+mic jack, and split 3.5 mm jacks. ASUS didn't reveal pricing.

I have a strong feeling this is a rebrand of the failed electrostat headphone company, they had a hybrid e-stat that worked on regular amps that looked just like this on the inside and it sounded so bad they couldn't even sell it on massdrop at 1/3 the price, lol.

This headset is using nahimic to operate its chips like their other high-end headsets. In order to configure your headset, u will have install ROG Armoury II and this shit is pain in the ass. If you are gonna buy this headset prepare for crackling, distorted sound when u install and try to use nahimic studio(rog armoury's headset operator) to configure this headset. Prepare for mushy, windy background sound on apps like discord, teamspeak when compressor is set to above 25~. Mic quality is bad your voice sounds hoarse compare to other headsets. I already sent it back and i wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this headset.

This is a failed technology being reused. Look up Mitchell & Johnson headphones. Any actual audiophile reviewers worth a dime pretty much agree, it's garbage technology. Even Amazon reviews agree.

Looking at the pictures of the ASUS design vs the M&J, it's very similar. Stay clear people, don't buy into the hype.

EDIT: Exactly! I just replied mentioning this before I read your comment, this tech is BAD.
