Seems like a pretty decent drive. I still think I'll stick with the SX8200Pro though, I think the little bit extra is worth it to not have the cliff of a drop off in write speeds when the pSLC cache is exhausted.

I bought my HP EX950 1TB for $125 and that's a TLC drive that trades blows with the Sx8200 pro, so there's an example of a TLC drive being cheaper despite this article stating in the "pros" portion of the conclusion that because the Sabrent drive uses QLC its cheaper than any other TLC/MLC drive on the market.

Because that is how storage works. Price goes up exponentially with storage size once you pass a certain point.

If you read the review, it says the 1TB Sabrent has been spotted for $120, so still cheaper than the EX950. And, even then, the regular price for the 1TB EX950 is $155, which is quite a bit more than $130.

Not impressed. QLC at this price? I had to reread to make sure. Sadly there hasn’t been any real price/performance gains on much anything In quite some time with the exception of CPUs.

So the non-gimpy controller and TLC version is basically the Firecuda. So it's only 7% slower while being much cheaper.

At least in Europe WD Blue SN550 seems to be at least as well priced.
And that's TLC drive.

That Adata and HP use same SM2262EN controller and Micron NAND and differences are in firmware.

I pay very little attention to theoretical read/write speeds and more attention to the dollar value.

2TB SSD are available for $200 - $230 and prefer to buy those over 1TB models.

the school of thought is mostly to have an SSD of any size as your OS Boot drive and then add on other drives for your files and apps.

Because my laptop has just two Nvme M.2 slots and one SATA, It meant more to me to have an OS Boot drive M.2 that was large enough for my most used apps, and then a second M.2 for more apps - along with a 3.5 SSD for even more apps. If you're willing to spend $600, you can get three SSD and have 6TB.
