A report via DigiTimes paints a bleak image on shipments for motherboards and GPUs. According to the publication, citing sources close to motherboard makers, the initial impact of the outbreak severely affected production - and the entire supply chain ecosystem needed to ferry these across the world. Alongside reduced demand in China (reported to be down 50% YoY and unlikely to pick up until July at the earliest) and other countries, the stage is set for a record low in some of our most favored hardware pieces.

Market observers had expected a seasonal increase in demand entering Q3 2020 which may never come to fruition, as DigiTimes also mentions AMD, Intel and NVIDIA as being unlikely to achieve their target sales for this time period. The reduced demand could see prices come down on components and various hardware pieces, should it linger for longer than the fabrication bottlenecks factories are currently facing. Some publications are pointing towards this drop in demand as a reason for NVIDIA to delay their expected GTC announcements, which the company's CEO, Jensen Huang, has already come out saying "Could wait".

Perfect timing to show how the mythical demand-supply relationship works :)
Or how it doesn't because manufacturers have interest to sell at inflated prices and only then ;)

Ahh but the value of a GPU holds for at least a little bit longer than the toilet paper will. I mean... not much longer... maybe 2-3 months, but still. Buying toilet paper is just flushing money down the toilet. Buy a 2080ti instead.

Review samples on the GPU side aren't flowing as they did 2 months ago... that's for sure.

When the time finally comes to use up my TP stash, I'm ready.
It pays to plan ahead guys.

As for hardware shipments I figured it would suffer with all this going on and it won't end in just a week or so either.

I hope that this leads some manufacturers to pull out of China.
Well I'd hope this leads to more scrutiny of China, their government & how the CCP in effect is flouting international regulations & norms like that illegal wildlife trade. For far too long the West, including the US, & the rest of the world have avoided criticizing the CCP & their ilk on matters such as Unfair trade practices, IP theft, Tibet, South China Sea, Uighur "reeducation camps" etc. This time though their reckless actions have caused an epidemic threatening most of the world, but who am I kidding as pointing out that their lifestyle choices have led to thousands & potentially millions dying is likely now what some would term as "Sinophobhia" here ~ this post would be censored & life will go on as usual. I'm all for PC but not the BS & false equivalence that people draw when they compare what China, especially the CCP, are doing intentionally to undermine the rest of the world. If highlighting that is Xenophobia so be it, you can take that PC & stash it with all the toilet rolls you can muster for the next year or so :toast:

Their way of living and by that mostly we are referring to what they eat. which I will not judge. Is completely different to ours, and is causing these viruses and bacteria we are not ready for and actually them not ready for as well.

Political reasons that pretty much can't be discussed here.

So why bring it up, it is completely and utterly unrelated, and pretty much baiting.

Its also quite sad that you feel the need to do this in the first place in a Corona topic.

I agree that is partly it, however, their government's suppression of the information is likely much more responsible for the current state of things - world-wide - whether their government wants to admit it or not. They can suppress information, but, especially in cases like this, it is much more difficult to suppress truth.

Closed societies like these are always known to never point the blame at themselves, if it rains it is US fault, if there is an earthquake US must have drilled a hole! and etc. they will never change..

I don't trust the Chinese government. I don't like their human rights record. I don't like what they're doing in Taiwan. I don't like the fact they initially covered up the virus and refused help from the WHO and the CDC that could of helped in stopping this pandemic. The list keeps going. I don't want to give them any kind of business. I hope my answer is satisfactory for you. Take care.

And while I agree on all of those things, there is still a place and a time for it... You even say so yourself, and yet...

I think questions being raised and asked about our dependancy on China, is a very good thing for the future. But we must as well take the blame as well, we have turned a blind eye, so we can get a product much cheaaper ignoring how and why they produced it cheaply.
