TerraMaster TD2 Thunderbolt 3 2-bay DAS

Storage devices with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity are not cheap. The TerraMaster D2 is different, it's only $250, supports two drives and two Thunderbolt 3 ports with a transfer rate of 40 Gb/s. Can it achieve the super-fast speeds of the Thunderbolt 3 interface?

I have had very good experience with D2-310: https://www.amazon.com/TerraMaster-External-Enclosure-Storage-Diskless/dp/B01MRSRQLA,
where I used it for taking experimental data which sometimes can keep writing non-stop for over 24 hours.

Considering this thing is $250, I found D2-310 at $150 a much better value.

TerraMaster better start work on developing a Thunder Bolt 4 version. Other companies have already started.
