The ADATA XPG Gammix S50 Lite is one of the most affordable PCIe Gen 4 SSDs on the market, with a price of $260 for the 2 TB version. In our testing, we saw great random IO results for both read and write. Thanks to a preinstalled heatsink, temperatures remain low even when heavily loaded.

Well atleast this time round they've started out with a shit controller unlike with the SX8200Pro where they started with a good controller Silicon Motion SM2262ENG and then swapped it for this shitty one maybe they'll do a reverse here start with crap and swap to better

I don't know why, but my performance was terrible, I believe due to throttling. I ended up returning the drive and bought the Western Digital SN850 and it has been night and day improved vs the S50 Lite.

Yeah "bait & switches" are the worst as they instantly nullify all existing benchmarks / reviews done. If you want to change the specs, then give it a different model number / name / brand.

They've definitely made me feel good about my SX8200 Pro 2TB I bought in fall of 2019 I think it was. Literally NOTHING been released since that makes it worth replacing, especially when bang for the buck comes into play.
*edit*
@W1zzard , Page 17, last paragraph, you list the HP EX950 twice while discussing alternatives.

Hi,
Yep I got three of the bad ones never came anywhere close to read/ wright spec's on two different builds so sent all three back after a adata support reply was more conserned about m.2 damages than all the poor read/ wright performance I was seeing lol guess they thought I was going to rma to them so they were setting the stage probably going to say I somehow damaged all three

I've been wanting to replace my 1TB SATA Game drive with a 2TB NVMe drive, it's hard to justify the price difference for the negligible real world performance gain. I got really excited when I saw the price for a 2TB PCIe 4.0 drive. Crossing my fingers it wasn't a QLC drive, then I saw the sustained performance. I guess I'm still searching for the price/ performance to justify it.

With Intel having sold their NAND business, I wonder if SK Hynix will continue providing the same chips or will they have to find a new source and new chips.

Yeah wasn't part of that deal to supply the same chips going forward for the next 2~5 years as sk don't own it outright as they couldn't afford it they still owe something like 2 billion bucks on the deal and until thats paid off they have to supply chips without change or something like that
