PARSIPPANY, N.J. - March 22, 2007 - PNY Technologies Inc. announced today immediate availability of its XLR8TM Blue and Gold 2GB memory kits-boasting speeds and low latencies that exceed industry standard specifications. Each XLR8 module features a new custom heat sink designed to provide superior heat extraction for enhanced reliability and endurance under the high-stress conditions such as gaming, file compression, and video editing.

All PNY Technologies' XLR8 memory modules are NVIDIA SLI -Ready certified. The NVIDIA SLI certification process puts each module through a rigorous set of diagnostic tests including benchmarking, continuous burn-in, and SLI motherboard and graphics card interoperability.

The Blue SKUs open up the XLR8 line with a range of performance specifications:
800 MHz PC2-6400 - Modules perform at latency settings of 4-4-4-12 at 2.1 volts. MSRP $259.99

1066 MHz PC2-8500 - Modules perform at latency settings of 5-5-5-15 at 2.2 volts. MSRP $399.99

800 MHz PC2-6400 - Modules perform at latency settings of 3-4-4-8 at 2.3 volts. MSRP $419.99

The Gold SKU is highest spec part available in the XLR8 line:

1156 MHz PC2-9248 - Modules perform at latency settings of 5-5-5-15 at 2.2 volts. MSRP $449.99

The modules, available now through PNY's worldwide network of reseller, distribution, retail and e-tail partners, also include the company's lifetime replacement warranty and technical support.

I've used PNY memory, long ago and I wasn't a huge fan of it then. While some of the prices seem nice, I dont get the pc6400 being priced more than the pc8500. That its latencies are so low (3-4-4-8) as opposed to the pc8500 (5-5-5-15) doesnt justify the huge price increase. Also, is it me, or does everyone seem to be following Corsair's design for "new age" heat spreaders?
