The Lamptron ATX frame presents a simple, but extremely effective way to add RGB lighting to your system, giving you yet another way to add a bit of bling to your gaming rig.

Seems like a winner to me.
Works on all cases and motherboards. Adds plenty of RGB. Pretty out-of-the-box thinking if you ask me.
I'm surprised Corsair or NZXT haven't come up with this one. I mean ... they thought of RGB Strimer ATX power supply cables.

Give them time. Once this is in the wild, Corsair - not sure about NZXT, though they do make those tacky RGB cable combs -- will copy it and promptly ask stupid money for it, because Corsair.

Wait, so it's a solid plastic sheet that completely blocks the CPU cutout behind the Motherboard and stifles any airflow on that side? :slap:
@Darksaber can you verify if it's a frame, or a solid sheet?

Huh. I actually like this a lot more than most mobos ARGB implementations, my favourite thing about my ITX B450-i is that it has an ARGB underglow, rather than LEDs direct to eyeballs

edit: oh damn its solid plastic? crap i thought it was 'hollow' in the middle. What a shitty addition.

I wonder if it's thin enough to not interfere with motherboard backplates.

@Darksaber
How thick is this frame?
Also CPU cooling backplates can interfere with this aRGB frame.

Also no cutout for CPU coolers which is even worse oversight.

Are you sure it's solid sheet and not just a frame? I see no mention of it either way.

In the OP, @Darksaber says "The Lamptron ATX frame" so I'm assuming it's just a frame, but open in the back, to allow for motherboard and CPU cooler backplates.

Did you even look through the review, at least the photographs?....
Yes I did read the review and look at the pictures, that's why I asked the reviewer, not that it's any of your business.

Id like to clarify what i understand this to mean before any non English speaking onlookers are possibly confused.

Taken from the very first paragraph of the story.

"The ATX201 frame comes packaged in a brown cardboard box with a sticker of the frame in action on front, so you know exactly what you are receiving."

That paragraph combined with the pictures really does a great job of summing up whats in the box. An led frame that brackets the back of your motherboard.

The black cover described in the article is the underside portion of the frame that covers the translucent led part of the frame. Its simply part of the frame, nothing more.

I don’t believe you have. The photographs and description clearly portray a slim frame. There’s nothing covering the back of the motherboard. A quote from the review: “The frame itself is as simple as can be. In essence, it is a translucent plastic frame with a black cover on one side.”

Semi-off-topic but still related, I'm surprised Lamptron is still in business; haven't seen anything new or major from them in a long while. Looking at their site, most of their newer stuff are just rebranded add-ins from Blyski or generic AliExpress, which is unsurprising but also slightly disappointing. I wonder if this RGB frame is also another rebrand.

They also never did get around to making a next-gen fan controller for Server Fans though, despite promising such some years back when everyone was into Deltas, San Aces, and Nidecs for high-end PC watercooling (when performance was more important than silence; like preferring a V12 over a V6). In fact, I was one of those who asked if they were going to make an add-in card or bay controller that could power the thirstiest of Deltas (GFC1212DW at 12v and 8.2a) or Nidecs, and they had said yes. They were also planning PWM control too, for the server fans with a different PWM frequency (San Aces and Nidecs).

Looking forward to putting one of these in my current Linux build. It would fit well with my current rgb cpu fan and memory. Simple product that will definitely be copied by others in the industry.

Damn that looks great, but they should have made it white since the RGB probably won't be noticeable on a black case.

The part that is against the motherboard tray is black, the part facing the motherboard is translucent. See installation picture in the article.

There is a little play between the frame and motherboard with standard height stand-offs. Boards with backplates should also fit, but I do not have such a board at my disposal.
If there is little play, I doubt it's compatible with most backplated boards because those usually are edge to edge.

X570 Aorus Master as an example:
9060_07_gigabyte-x570-aorus-master-amd-motherboard-review_full.png

After checking I noticed that my X570 Master almost touches the motherboard tray. At most 1mm of space left.
So this frame will definitely not fit unless I remove the backplate.

Ah! yea, that won't fit, you are absolutely right. EDIT: I guess you would have to remove your board backplate if you really want this illumination?
