ASUS joins the mainstream trend of 60% keyboards by going with a 65% form factor with the ROG Falchion. It adopts a minimalist design, but doesn't compromise on features by adopting wired/wireless connectivity, wireless Aura Sync, plenty of switches to choose from, and a novel touch pad on the side!

Wait, 60% keyboards are mainstream?
Ooof. I hate them; Basic shit is hard to do on 60% layouts.
I get that compact keyboards appeal to some people but I wasn't expecting the label "mainstream" to ever be applied to them :\

In that mainstream companies are adopting this form factor now, sure.

Oh right, yeah - that makes more sense I guess.

I still can't get my head around why someone would want the cramped, compromised experience of a 12" laptop keyboard layout when they have a whole desk but whatever; It's better to have choices that only a few people want than to have no choices at all.

That's the thing though, not everybody has a desk with ample real estate to work with, or maybe they do, but tend to rest their entire arm on their desk when they game and like to have their keyboard at a bit of a tilt; small boards like this are great for this. I have a TKL board, but given my limited desk real estate I'm finding even it to be big when gaming and so am considering a 60%/65% board for gaming only and my TKL I'll use for everything else.

I had to look up what a Falchion is, it seems they have a penchant for swords.

I have a 65% and I LOVE it...

I don't have much use for F-row keys, so having them as a secondary is fine.

I have a Vaydeer media controller to do anything/everything media related, and I have the switches, stabs, keycaps, and Sound I want from a keyboard.

Mainstream keyboards are so - Meh after you've been doing anything Remotely custom - even just minor things like changing keycaps or lubing stabs.

Fair enough. Personally I can't imagine many scenarios where shrinking a keyboard by 1.8" is a better option than fixing the desk size limitations but that's why I'm not the target audience; After growing up with a cramped 18" wide computer desk (with slide-out mouse tray), I bought 6' solid birch tabletop for my first home and I'm still using it almost 25 years later.

I do, however, like the idea of a volume control on the side of the keyboard, that goes hand it hand with it being wireless.

I bought this keyboard actually like a month ago and i absolutely love it(main reason i bought it is because i bought strix scar g533qr laptop and i wanted small and wireless keyboard and mouse and because i am kind of stuck with asus armory crate i decided to go with falchion keyboard and asus gladius III wireless mouse so that i don't need to install any additional software). One thing i don't understand is price complaint what other keyboard you can buy for same amount off money that has everything, razer black widow v3 is at least in my country 200 euro and is in most of eu. It doesn't have touch bar or keyboard cover and it has more than two times worse battery life and no pbt keycaps. At the same time you can find falchion regularly around 130e thats what i paid for.
Price is one of the main pros for buying this keyboard for me personally.
The only conn so far and it is not that big of a thing for me is weird gamey font i don't know why they didn't put same font like on laptop keyboard it is completely fine and acceptable.
PS.( Optomechanical keyboard on g533qr laptop is really good i really want to try some low profile mechanical keyboard with click on pc)
And for whatever reason you cant find anywhere this keyboard with any switch but red. So i hope it changes when nx version comes out i will probably buy version with blue switches because i prefer blue switches for typing and red for gaming and in general using it with other people around because blue can be to noisy.
