CHIEFTRONIC, the gaming-focused brand from CHIEFTEC, is proud to announce the launch of the power supply STEELPOWER SERIES, featuring certified 80. The SteelPower Series from Chieftronic brings many of the well-received and proven upmarket features and components from the PowerPlay series into the mainstream gamer's market. Gamers can now benefit from the tight voltage regulation and low ripple thanks to the use of half-bridge LLC converters with DC-DC technology as well as premium Japanese capacitors in combination with 80 Plus Bronze efficiency and fully modular cable management.

FDB 12 cm fan
Offered in wattages of 550 W, 650 W, and 750 W, the SteelPower series bene¬fits from a high power-density design allowing all the above mentioned to be packed into a compact 14 cm long housing with a 120 mm FDB silent fan. The design of the PSU comes in a rugged understated look.

Expected Market Launch September 2021.

Problem is you can judge a lot by a PSU by its warranty and "60 months" (5 years) goes hand in hand with the "Bronze" rating that often means some corners are cut (and is much less than the 7-10 year Gold / Platinum warranty ones for a reason). Eg, "Japanese capacitors" could mean "we have 100% coverage of 105c rated high grade ones", or it could mean "we use some high grade 105c rated ones but some others are cheap 85c". I've seen that before on many Bronze PSU's of multiple brands where using at least one premium capacitor lets them put "Japanese Capacitor" it in the marketing brochure without mentioning that the insides are not 100% like that at all. Exactly why we desperately need "Johnnyguru" style in depth "teardown" reviews for PSU's.

Looks like someone took a generic PSU, sprayed it with plastidip and then made their own super restrictive fan grill out of sheet metal with tin snips.
Looks good.

How about waiting for tpu or who ever else reviews psus to make such a judgement call.

I recall in early 2000s that Chieftec/Antec Units were Seasonic OEM.

Air flow looks severely restricted with that fancy grill, I hope it uses quality parts that run cool.

Chieftec was the most popular and used to have pretty good reviews.

Sure I guess but I'm merrily commenting on its looks and that its stupid fan grill aren't doing it any favors.
