Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., primary authorized distributor of the Happy Hacking Keyboard (HHKB) in the United States, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the iconic HHKB series with a limited-quantity, special edition HHKB Professional HYBRID Type-S Snow. Featuring a sleek, snow-white finish and an exclusive 25th anniversary key, the limited-run model offers a high-quality typing experience without compromise, making it the perfect companion for programmers, engineers, writers and others seeking out a premium keyboard.

Featuring cutting-edge, silent Topre electrostatic capacitive switches to dramatically reduce keystroke noise, the customizable HHKB Professional HYBRID Type-S Snow makes keying a joy, even after hours of typing. The keyboard's compact size and near-symmetrical layout offer comfort for the longest typing sessions, with a unique 60-key layout to save space and maximize efficiency. Easily create customized keymaps for a completely personalized experience, including programming the HHKB Professional HYBRID Type-S Snow's celebratory 25th anniversary key. Compatible with iOS, macOS, Windows, and Android operating systems, the keyboard can seamlessly connect to up to four devices via Bluetooth and can also connect via USB-C.

"We are truly honored by the immense support the HHKB series has received from the passionate keyboard community in the United States and across the globe for the past 25 years," said Daisuke Kutsuwada, President & CEO, Fujitsu Computer Products of America. "Born from the needs and preferences of developers, HHKB has evolved along with modern technological advances, while keeping the essence of the legendary series consistent in our latest HYBRID Type-S SNOW Keyboard."

Introduced in 1996, the HHKB series was based on the basic concept of a more rational, simplified key arrangement within a compact, practically designed keyboard. Over the years, HHKB has offered an unparalleled typing experience unlike anything else in the marketplace, customized for the needs of typists who want the robust functionality of a full-sized keyboard, without taking up too much space on their desktop. Beautifully designed, the HHKB series offers a state of absolute minimalism within a high-quality keyboard.

To continue the celebration and offer the keyboard community an opportunity to reflect on the past 25 years, Fujitsu is hosting a virtual event in December 2021. Follow HHKB on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for more details including information on exclusive prizes and early access to the registration link.

The special edition Happy Hacking Keyboard Professional HYBRID Type-S SNOW is currently available for $349.99 on the Happy Hacking Keyboard website.

I also don't understand that insane price, what's special about this keyboard? Just because it's quiet?

Not as an explanation (don’t @ me) but, to answer the pricing question, it’s a collector’s edition of a highly sought after keyboard layout using a rare and expensive switch (topre realforce), and all built in Japan.

I'll pay $50 for that.
Spin it however you want it capacitive or non capacitive switches it's closer to rubber dome than mechanical keyboard.
I'm not gonna lie hhkb were super appealing to me back in the day where there were not many keyboards of that form factor but these days you can build a solid custom mech keyboard for $100-$150 myself and lot other peepz would do that instead of getting a hhkb.

You can get a non-collectors edition of HHKB for about $170.

You are unlikely to get a keyboard as well built for >$150, even with as many problems as HHKB has.
