Gigabyte's GeForce RTX 3050 comes with a medium-sized overclock paired with a large triple-fan, dual-slot thermal solution that achieves good temperatures and lets some airflow through the card. Unlike many other RTX 3050s, Gigabyte includes a metal backplate with their card for added protection.

So a lot of unnecessary add ons for this card to bloat the price while performing worse than competing cards.
That's been the modus operandi for years, tart up the shitty low-end cards to look like high-end ones so you can charge high-end prices. I'm honestly surprised the board manufacturers haven't started putting fake PCIe power connectors on their boards to justify these completely unnecessary cooling solutions.

Reusing a HSF design for a different GPU and assuming it would either "just work", or that this GPU doesn't produce enough heat to make it a problem. And sadly, most buyers won't know or care.

Second paragraph of this review (Gigabyte) and Asus:
This results in 2,560 CUDA cores, 20 RT cores, 80 Tensor Cores, 80 TMUs, and 48 ROPs

ROP count is 32 as we can see at chart below on this page... or the table is incorrect and GPU-Z v2.44 also shows 32 ROPs also incorrecty..

The other two RTX 3050 reviewed hasn't this typo.

OMG, this is embarrasing! Getting beaten by a card about half the size, weighing 300g less and only 1 fan. Ouch!

There can be a additional technical issues but if you look at the teardown of the card it should become clear why their cooling design performs poorly.

It's only got two heatpipes on a big fin array, in itself not an issue, but one heatpipe goes directly over the VRM cooling, where the fins also have to deal with that heat , thus reducing efficiency. The other heatpipe goes all the way around on the outside of the fin array, not able to dissipate any heat, until the end where it finally cuts into the fins where it finally dissipate some heat. The middle fan is essentially doing nothing, just there for looks, it might help cool the big aluminium block they have for the VRAM, but that's about it. The fin orientation and related heatpipe layout means a lot of cooling surface is under utilized. All around a bad design.

Fixed. ROP count is 32, I confirmed this with NVIDIA. They've put the wrong number (48) in their reviewer's guide and several outlets picked that up

Amazing how you get this long heatsink, three fans, they even needed to give the PCB extra height just for the hell of it.. all for a terrible version of a card no better than the 1070 I bought for a lower price 5 years ago. What gives? Truly incredible.

I was wondering about that, then I saw how that cooler is constructed ... oh man. Like half the heatsink is >5cm away from the nearest source of heat. That middle fan is essentially cooling nothing at all - noise/thermals might improve if you disconnec the middle fan. And the Palit has more heatpipes and a much more sensible layout. This cooler is just a waste of aluminium.
