If anyone have the money why not, but here in our country is the price for stock 4800 16GB about 139€.

Even on pair to a CPU like a 11400F for about 144€ :)

The Asus B660G is an interessting board with external clock gen. but with DDR5, no way to have fun.

These sticks go for 300€ so not that bad actually but i expect there will be quite a bit better ram for the same money towards the end of the year

Also Ive heard that difference between single rank and dual rank on DDR5 is bigger than it is on DDR4, so im not sure if buying 2x8GB of DDR5 would be even worth it

I've heard this as well since instead of using 8x 1GB ICs, it just 4x 2GB. Bandwidth goes down the drain. I need to get my hands on some just to test this for myself.

Only $540... Bargain.

Guess if you run really memory bandwidth intensive workloads continually it might be worth it.

Its always a concern for sure. DDR5 only has Hynix and Samsung that can do 6000+. Samsung ICs are reportedly more expensive. I don't see a change in the ICs happening anytime soon.

It reads the SPD data, but its just blank for everything and no JEDEC values.

Maybe the SPD is stored differently?

Hi,
It's not even compatible with x299 systems so yeah I'm not surprised it can't read ddr5.

Yeah i'm having that issue as well. I wouldn't mind DDR5 prices since I only need 2x8GB but supposedly every single 8GB stick is single rank.

Your basically forced into buying at least 2x16GB unless you want the bandwidth to go down the drain.

Since this post i found this video
its in russian but the graphs are in english, @9:41 he shows the real world difference between 2x8GB (far left split) vs 2x16GB (far right split) and the difference isnt as big as i expected even while CPU bottlenecked with OC'd 3080ti.

In his testing the average difference between dual and single rank DDR5 was 2%

Interesting chart. Heavily favored faster speed ram with 2 sticks regardless if the sticks were dual rank or single rank.

If these results are accurate then i'd be down to make the jump (2x8GB DDR5 isn't super expensive in my area)
