@ir_cow Would you say 2x16gb for 32 total at 6000 cas 40-40-40 is the overall sweet spot for gaming specifically for DDR5 system builds?

I'm not who you asked, but I think the sweetspot is moving. Right now there are only 5600-6000 cl36-40 kits available for a reasonable price. But for example Corsair recently released a 6200 cl36 kit for not much more than their 5600 cl36 kit was. https://www.corsair.com/eu/en/Categ...ANCE-DDR5-Memory---Black/p/CMK32GX5M2B6200C36

By the time AM5/Raptor lake arrives hopefully we will have something like 6400 cl32 available and affordable.

I agree with @ZetZet . "Sweet spot" is a moving target right now I think. 6000 MT/s has a high compatibility among mothebroards and most likely it will be good for AMD as well. Get the latency down some more and it may very well be the DDR5 equivalent to DDR4s sweet spot of 3600 MT/s.

Thank you for the review.

I appreciate the thermal testing as well. I have one idea that may be useful to add to those specific charts: the avg delta between DIMM thermal sensors. This could potentially expose sneakily bad designs, for example a decent heatsink with uneven or incomplete contact. Wouldn't take additional testing either, since you already are averaging multiple sensors for the temp results as it is.

DDR5 is my weakest gen though so maybe this data wouldn't be useful.

Hmm I guess that leaves it open to interpretation with a average. If it was wildly different, I would say something. Its 1c difference between the two.

Also quick note the SPD sensor is not the IC temp. Igor did a great article on this. I would need to place a thermal sensor on the ICs for a real reading. That may be in the future, we will see.

Hi,
Yeah I'd add cl16 to your 3600 sweet spot.
