So there's €22000 of GPU in there, but if you take out the GPUs, I'm struggling to see how the rest of it is worth €15000.

I buy higher spec complete servers for less than this with more CPU, RAM, and full enterprise-level redundancy and management interfaces. This isn't a server, it's a Threadripper which is made out of rejected server dies.

I made an edit but then the numbers still didn't add up. Is it the watercooling that adds so much to the price?

LTT had a system in with dual Intel Xeons, and the hardware is configurable any way. I opted to get the smaller version to make it easier to photograph and transport by myself, and that's the limitation on the CPU side of things. As for the cost, at the time this system arrived the GPUs were way more expensive to the end user and nearly 90% of the system's cost by themselves. Of course things are better now so I imagine the system would also be priced accordingly.

That makes a lot more sense. A6000's are about €5500 (inc VAT) right now. I can imagine even just two months ago each GPU could have been a thousand more.
When did the system arrive? With GPU prices being so volatile the last 24 months, date-stamping the price isn't a bad idea.

The system was built a few months ago and arrived at my place ~2.5 months ago. Date-stamping would be a good idea, but that would also mean changing the entire databse of system reviews written by others. Let me see what I can do about this one at least, thanks for the suggestion!

Ya joys of “enterprise” sticker. We made a new server here other year for condition monitoring. Intel enterprise 960GB sata ssd was $220 on new egg and the same drive with The Lenovo certified sticker from Lenovo was $500 in change.

Everything is ridiculous. Cast iron valves used to carry 60 day price on a quote. I have been getting quotes lately where price is only guaranteed for 1 week lol

It's tied to the hardware as a digital license, somehow I doubt that is going to be any issue/deterrent to miscreants.

I really like the idea of reliable liquid cooling, I wonder how difficult it would be to achieve something similar on your own.
I'm usually against prebuilt solutions, but in this case they offer an interesting product.

It's mostly the failsafe controller system here which is the difficult part to do yourself, the components are standard and the rest of the engineering is smart but not unique.
