The Cougar Polar 1200 is the best Cougar power supply I have tested so far. Its build quality is high, and performance competes with the ASUS ROG Thor flagship using a modified Seasonic Prime Platinum platform. The Cougar Polar not only performs as well overall, but it's also very quiet.

Wow - I didn't expect such a good unit from an OEM I've never heard of. XHY and DWPH, totally new to me. Very surprising.

The PSU looks like a love child between Corsair RMx and Phanteks Revolt X

@crmaris

I see this is atx ver 2.52. But is it rev 1.42 may 2018 or rev 1.43 March 2019 of the atx spec?

I think ver 2.53 is rev 1.43.01 may 2020.

Hi,
Not sure why you compare it to ROG tax psu unless this is really a dual sells review of both

Why not just cut to the chase and compare it to the original seasonic psu's :/

I don't have a recent measurement of the original Seasonic PSU :)

just used what they had on the specs. For me ATX spec doesn't mean anything, since most of them don't fully meet them anyway.

I thought as much (about not meeting the spec)

should be a big sticker on the box. Not atx PSU certified.

As an engineer specs mean something to me. I had a chance to read change log for ver 3.0 and skim through the details. My current PSU is ver 2.31. So like 2007 year spec but 4yr old PSU. That’s way before win 10. I recall having issues with sleep and hibernation etc. reviewing the atx change log in wondering if the PSU had anything to do with it now.

If anyone is interested in the latest spec

Perhaps because ASUS does send review samples and Seasonic doesn't.

Any plans to review a Fractal Ion+ 2 660p platinum unit (or other wattage) in the future??

There's no quality different in ROG Thor gen1 and gen2, Phanteks Revilt X also is. They all base on Seasonic's last PRIME-PX platform from 2017.
They all use the same parts with same quality, and nothing different in traditional test:roll:

Just choose what you really need one.
PCIe5.0 , screen and noise certified, ROG.
Dual System, Phanteks. But he still have the same quality and cheaper (a lot):kookoo:
