MOONDROP's long awaited Blessing 3 IEMs are finally here! The new set uses a 2 DD/4 BA hybrid driver configuration, including a rarely seen dual dynamic driver setup in a horizontally-opposed configuration, inside shells boasting improved ergonomics and aesthetics to try to once again define the $300 market.

TechPowerUp sure loves to cover Moondrop and Sharkoon products.

Moondrop is sort of the big giant ass shark in the ChiFi market especially off the blessing series. They are hard to avoid. And really the blessing series has somehow remained the defacto sub 1k unit to go get despite it's age. That's a hell of a win. They are pumping out a 300 buck unit that fights with 1000 buck units and they haven't changed the price. It's not without flaws, everything has them, but it has always remained a solid "get this one, don't ask, you'll be happy" which is really all you can ask for.

When it comes to the package here I'm of mixed feelings. I have yet to buy an IEM that I didn't instantly go out and buy new foam tips, new cable, and the rest of it. I think etymotic and shure are the rare exceptions. So normally this falls into an "I don't care and nor should you" area. The issue I have with Moondrop is they have high end foams, silicons, and cables so there is zero reason they can't punch up the package by say 100 bucks and just ship the upgrades that anyone is going to get regardless.

What they need to do is release say a blessing 3 pro or whatever they are going to call it. Ship it with the damn dac/amp dongle, ship it with a cable, and ship it with their good tips. Their basic dac/amp flies for 50-60, the tips would be 40 for foams and silicon, their basic upgrade cable is 60. Being generous and still letting them make a profit they could package this for about 140. Many stores will already sell you a similar deal so they should just do it. The blessing itself does not sell for 320 it flies for 300. So slamming this all in for 450 which most vendors will do if you ask for it is an easy option that offers a hell of a deal for your money.

I'm waiting for a pair of Blessing 3s to ship from Shenzhen Audio and am keeping my fingers crossed that I'll find them enjoyable without the need for EQ. My major concern is the "recessed and slightly muddy" nature of male vocals. That concern is tempered by the relatively small number of male vocals in my music collection. Female vocalists outnumber males by around 5:1.

I'll post my reactions when the IEMs arrive and I have time to put them through their paces.

Thanks, as always, for your definitive reviews. We may have different tastes in music or sound reproduction, but your reviews are so consistent that I can predict my own reaction to the gear being tested.

My Blessing 3 arrived a few days ago and I've been listening to a random selection of tracks, hopping from genre to genre but concentrating on tracks with which I'm very, very familiar.

My initial reaction to the stock eartips was the same as that of @VSG. I had to line them up on my desk to identify the sizes. I went for the M-size, inserted them and — bingo! — a perfect fit.

My first impression of the Blessing 3 was that of clarity and space, especially clarity. I was able to identify layered instruments whereas before they'd sounded like only one. The same goes for layered vocals. I was delighted to find that I could decipher several mumbled lyrics that had bothered me for decades.

Soundstage is slightly wider than that of other IEMs in my collection.

Recently I've been alternating between my Letshuoer S12 and Truthear Zero Crinacle. It's too soon to compare those with the Blessing 3. I'll post again with a more considered review.
